Description
This scene was inspired by a moment in the movie Southbound (2015).
This project marked a fairly big step forward for me in regards to Blender skills. Ive modeled a full human figure, added rigging, posing, creating clothes, texturing, and animating the figure with a cloth simulation to get more realistic clothes.
Ive also started using the Eevee renderer in Blender to see how it is to use, and the results, compared to Blender Cycles.Β
You can find the Cycles version here with notes on the conversion, and my observations: www.deviantart.com/byron1c/artβ¦
Its taken a little adjusting, but not much. The reward is that its waaay faster to render, so its much easier to tweak a scene to get it just right, without the fear of another long test render in Cycles, especially when using fog/volumetrics.
The main downside I encountered was that Eevee doesn't (AFAIK) support area lights and they are rendered as spots when using fog. I had to simulate the effects with a lot of well placed spot and point lights, so that they provided the right illumination without the light source appearing as a bright spot in the fog (have a look at the centre of the pinkish lights to see where Ive used the effect to look like a bulb in the lamp objects).
I will (or have) convert this to Cycles and compare the results, and will post the resulting image, and will link it here.
