I think that would be a terrific idea. With your mastery of clay and access to a kiln you'd probably have a blast with Silver Clay...

I've never heard of silver clay... I'm using porcelain at the moment.

It's a mix of very, very fine paper mache and pure silver powder that can be worked wet like clay or sculpted and filed dry, too. When fired in a kiln the paper burns away, the object shrinks by 10% and you are left with 999 fine pure silver. Just google "Precious Metal Clay" or "Silver Art Clay".
