I just made up two words!

I always like the way the animal-headed gods are drawn in Egyptian art. Anubis looks like this totally no-nonsense badass, Bast generally looks sophisticated yet kind of laid-back, and Thoth just looks like he's got a stick up his ass, but he's really enjoying what he's doing (which is recording everything). Ever since we covered them in my art history course I've wanted to draw my own interpretations of them; for a long time now I've pictured Horus as sort of a petulant youth (though I need to work on making a hawk look petulant, beaks aren't my forte) and, admittedly, Sekhmet just got kind of stuck in there last-minute. Gender identity issues much? No wonder she wants to kill shit.

My method for this was not to sketch, just to draw them straight-out and see what came of them, since that's usually how I do initial character 'feeling' designs. I really like how they all came out, save maybe for Horus.
