Description
The USS Merced (NCC-1801) was one of the first Mark 1 Miranda Class ships built in the mid-2260s and was commanded by Tellarite Captain Naatt, a twenty year space veteran who earned his captaincy during the Federation-Klingoin War of 2256-2257.

The Merced would serve with distinction under Captain Naatt's command until her destruction during the Battle of Caleb IV in 2270. During the battle, she was cut off from her attack wing and cornered by three Klingon Raptors. The ship went down fighting with all hands lost, but her legacy continued into the 24th Century with the naming of the California Class USS Merced (NCC-87075). Coincidentally, the "Cali-Class" Merced was also commanded by a tellarite, named Durango.
