Excellent work. She is indeed a fun character and dolphins do make an occasional appearance.

Nice. Yes, she does punches things. I've never seen the animation but she has an attack called "Dolphin Blow" So... there's that.
Hipsier than Tifa's usually depicted. But that's not a bad thing.

Yeah, I'm noticing when I draw on the tablet the hips tend to be bigger. I think it's the angle, but I need to keep an eye on it.Β

That's understandable. I recently got my first drawing tablet, and it's a bit of a curve to figure out. Not including having to turn the sensitivity all the way up right away. They don't look, say, impossibly bloated or broken or anything, but I can understand how you'd notice more than anyone else if it wasn't what you wanted. Despite her visual aesthetic, Tifa's kind of a timid sweetheart. It gets lots in translation with modern depictions and fan-art, but I think her original depiction was supposed to be very doe-eyed to reflect that part of her personality.
Also it's a change of pace to see a female character with more (obvious) muscle tone than any of her male counterparts. And with the previous brawler type character in the series being able to suplex ghost vehicles, and Tifa also being able to suplex things, it's kind of implied she's very strong.

Cadhla182 In reply to ava-tobiax [2020-04-22 05:13:03 +0000 UTC]
Oh, the muscle was very intentional. The hips on her and the Nadia piece I put out a little while back were just unintentional. I don't think unrealistic, but a tad much. But, like you said, a learning curve and not too out of place on Tifa.Β

Oh, I was just talking about Tifa as a visual character in general in that part. The width of her hips makes her chest look slopey, I think as an obstacle illusion? It's hard for that kind of shading to be unintentional.

ava-tobiax In reply to Cadhla182 [2020-04-22 05:48:26 +0000 UTC]
It appears to slope, because of the way the width changes between the hips and shoulders. That or my eyes are playing tricks on me.

By which I mean her SHOULDERS are supposed to be up and forward. I'm very tired.Β

ava-tobiax In reply to Cadhla182 [2020-04-23 01:09:47 +0000 UTC]
Right. My eyes were playing tricks on me and I didn't see the shading, moreso just the silhouette.

Cadhla182 In reply to ava-tobiax [2020-04-22 06:06:29 +0000 UTC]
I think that may be more on the angle than her hips. They're supposed to be up and forward, which would slope the chest a bit (If I'm getting your meaning right, it's late so I may not be), but the angle only really makes that as apparent for her right arm.

There's a couple dozen differences between my translation and the official design. Her bust, which is hidden behind her hands, at an angle that doesn't show it well, and in a pose that would make it less noticeable, is the least significant.Β

but the top of the cleavage doesnt show that there are breasts. Even if you hide most of it there has to be shadows and lines that show it's there (certain conditions apply)

This in no way addresses what you said at first or what I just said, and I'm not taking anatomy or shading advice from someone who's account is filled with anatomically ridiculous fetish art.Β

what does my account have to do with it, even if you make a modest bust there has to be evidence of its existence, im not being hostile to you just offering criticismΒ

First off, it was unasked for advice, not criticism.
Second, your account shows your tastes and either your belief in human anatomy being ridiculously deluded or your willingness to ignore it under certain circumstances. So why would I take anatomy advice from you?Β

Piratemir144 In reply to Cadhla182 [2020-04-22 04:29:19 +0000 UTC]
my account is irrelevant in an argument for how a drawing is made, second Tifa has breasts and all i said that the drawing looks as though she has no breasts, third a comment section can be used for criticism or praise so would the other comments be reply-ed too, and fourth, i was giving constructive criticism but if you believe its advice thats fine you could take it or leave but dont shame me for offering itΒ

And I'm drawing in that style? I'm shading in that style? I have that angle, that pose? I drew her arms exactly like that, or the rest of her anatomy for that matter? I've put that amount of shading on literally any other part of her body?Β
That's the thing, the second reply I gave you was "I changed a lot of things" and you ignored it. I was already annoyed by the first comment, ignoring me because I'm not drawing to your particular taste is why I'm angry.

I wasnt angry for your taste, i never was, every person has their style and I like a nearly all of them. All i mentioned was that her breasts were missing as Tifa is known with modest breasts. I like your stuff its super cool thats why I follow you, I scrolled your entire page and favored the ones I really like even this Tifa drawing. I even follow artists who are learning to do these things and I still like them, everyday I give like and hour going thru my messages and favoring them. If I didn't care about your art I wouldn't follow you not take the time to appreciate it nor offer criticism. Also its obvious that you changed a lot of things and thats good, just I am saying I am not some person projecting my preferences all Im saying is that if you want to make a more correct Tifa you forgot a part of it. I hope you get better in your art and keep making them its outstanding. But shaming a person for the art they like and assuming that the art I like distorts what human autonomy is frankly a bad attack.
Should I have made myself clear on some things sure, but I never said I didn't like the Tifa drawing nor you, Best of luck on making art

I never actually played it back when it originally came out but I watched so many of my friends play it I got most of it that way, though recently Team Four Star have been making an excellent parody series of it and their takes on the characters have now superseded the originals in my mind.
