Ok sorry for the late comment on this one, did't realize this was your famous 500 page views image

Well, I am going to especially judge this one since you put a week of your life into this.

overall, it is good. On my personal scale, it is 82% R. The lightning is somewhere between good and great depending on where you look. The quality of it is expressed greatly in the scales. The lightning off the scales is wonderful and the detailing is roughly A-.

However, you faltered along the neck. When it comes to the mind, we recognize the face and the eyes and mouth especially and the scales also attract the eye. However, in a true art-critic view, the whole image is worthy of detailing and looking at. You should place the same great detailing and time-consuming care over the whole image. When it comes to great digital art and traditional art, the detailing comes as a great factor in determining the artistic quality of a drawing, You can use the better-thn-real-life color scheme and shading and lightning and every other trick in the book but if a drawing comes out fuzzy in any way, the quality comes down at a decent amount at least.

Next time when you do an image this detailed or any image in fact, treat any area with the same level of care. Do not view it as an 3D image. View what you are drawing as you are drawing it as a flat piece of drawable-on-material and detail it with lines and colors and stuff evenly throughout the whole canvas. With that, you can heavily improve your quality of drawing regardless of the color scheme being cartoonish or realistic in looks.

So remember, no one part of an image is better in a true artistic view and patience creates the best of art.

I think thats a fair judge. It is true that I could have and should have spent a little more time and care into the neck. The belly plates are pretty flawed. Anyway, i'm pretty proud of this, and I think compared to what I usually do (not just on DA) this is a pretty neatly done piece. Thank you for your critique

I love the sc***s!
Your lightning good, I like the yellows, which gives a warm tone to the picture. It needs a bit more shading though, lacks depth around the smaller horns and parts of the face. I don't know, maybe some of the shades just needs to be a little sharper? Dragons are full of delightful hollows and edges, most of them you captured wonderfully (Love the skull!).
The details are amazing! The effort you've put into this picture is obvious, and not misplaced at all.
Overall, AMAZING!

Thanks! And i guess it could use some more shading, but the ambient lighting was supposed to envelop the body, not like one serious light point like I do on most of my work. Oh well. I'm glad you like it tho!!

Aah those little details, how time consuming and little they are, though they make art shine when done right. (didnt say it XD)
I feel your pain with the "s" word. Although I still like drawing them for some reason... o-o

You did a great job! I love the way the eyes were done and how it was all colored. Congradulations on the 500 pageviews too
