This is Dimitri, a deer hybrid AU Haru!child with The oldest of the triplets. He's wearing a pretty red ribbon that his youngest brother, Bon, tied there because he thought it was cute. The little Bunny and Tiger tassles on his pillow represent Bon and Tyron respectively. CUTENESSHoooooooooooookay! This is my very very very first ever attempt at hand painting (digitally) a deviation using a lineart. At first I was just going to do the face as a quick experiment, but after I got that far I just...kept....going....
Now I understand how someone can spend 20+ hours on a painting. I lost count. Probably close to that though.
I never thought I could do anything like this. I worked hard and, considering it was my first attempt, I am pleased. Be gentle with criticism.

I didn't do any tracing. It was a free hand drawing only, but without it I would have had no CLUE how to draw a deer-ish body.

Originally I had tried to do it exactly as she put it but got frustrated because it wasn't working for me. So I had to pretty much change the entire way it was done. For example, I NEED layers. I need them. Also, I couldn't do that eyedropper bit to save my life, so most of the blending is fine smudge control. I did take her suggestions for opacity and paint flow, though, and blocked and added color much as she did.
I don't have a tablet. My retarded right hand did this with a mouse.

This is a great colouring job, darling! The best I've seen you do yet, really. I really think you're getting a better grasp on shading and such, because a tutorial can only help you with the technique, not the actual shading, hehe!

Thanks. I have plans to do another. It's REALLY time consuming though and requires all my concentration. Still, the end result is really something.

The coloring-- for doing it by mouse, I give you kudos, really. I used to have to do everything by mouse and I know how daunting it can be to get in detail 
Shading is very nice as well, and for doing the deer body [first time, right??] it came out quite well, I think. ^_^

Thank you! Yeah, it was the first time for a deer body, or anything else with this technique for that matter. LOL Maybe this Christmas I'll finally ask for a tablet, since it seems I'm really going to invest the time in polishing my pictures now.

wow i really love this new cg technique of yours, and you're very right! I've tried others tutorials before but i just COULDN'T get half of the information right @_@ yes, i gotten lazy with cg lately but though normal people never understood but after an artist pours 20+ hours into a work, it always looks amazing

oh, i was inspirational? Cool! The thing is, I'm going to have less time to work on art now, but I do have my next project planned. The lineart is someone elses but it's sure to be a crowd pleaser if I do it right. heh.
And I find that tutorials are great even if I can't use them as-is. I also seem to find some way to modify it to suit my particular needs in the long run. I just wish 1. I knew more about shading and stuff and 2. My hand and mouse would all cooperate nicely with my right brainness.
