I made this originally as a portrait, and I guess it still sort of is considering she's lookin at ya and smiling! XDAnd thank you and for your help by giving me your input and suggestions! I really appreciate it!

First off, I have to say excelent job! You mastered the concept of back and foreground very nicely. I love how the background is darker and less detailed making the foreground stand out. It really makes the whole picture more realistic and dimensional and not just flat. As always, your textures are beautiful and I can see how you've captured the light to give everything shape with more than just defined lines. That is a skill that takes some artists a long time to figure out. I also like the way Apple Jack pops out as the subject. You did not put her dead center of the picture thats good space managment. It balances everything more artisticly. Instead it lloks like you used color and lighting to point her out as the subject, well done. Her eyes by the way are gorgeous! i love your original style! nice job on the river too! It has shape, texture, and catches the light nicely. I really like how you made it cgange from background to foreground and the way you drew it looks like it actually has motion and direction, its not just a flat blue line. Great job on perspective! The ponies anatomy is a little off i think, but that isnt a problem because everything is in relative proportion and if that is part of your style, dont change it! Adding little loose wisps of hair might make it more realistic and less blocked together idk. Great job once again, I cant wait to see more!

She is too squished vertically. Her ear as big as the head itself? Doesn't seem right. Also, the river would fade as it goes away (based on the shape, it goes quite away - it would also tighten - optics)Β

yeah, the ear design is meant to be that way, it's a new style I was working on developing. Although, I can see what ya mean by the head being squished by it though, so I can try fixing that in another pic. And the river, I couldn't figure out how I should make it recede, since it was going around a bend, and wasn't going out in the distance. I'll try working on that though and see if I can improve upon that!
Thanks for your critique, I appreciate it, and I will try to figure out how to improve on those particular areas... the ear though is simply a style decision and is purposely large, so the size may or may not change too much, unless I go for a more show accurate style! ^^

I see you steered away from the fuzzy look in this one.Β I like how you made the background and the tree look vague, almost out of focus, while Applejack is sharp.Β It seems to bring the viewers attention more onto the subject of the piece (AJ), while still filling in the rest with color and setting.Β

Yeah, I'm giving the fuzzy style a break for awhile, and working on this particular style instead! ^^ Β And thank you, I'm glad to hear ya think that, cuz I've been trying to learn how to do that for awhile, and it's nice to hear that I'm achieving that goal!
