Description Mimi has to practise modling too. xD It took so long to get a shaking-pic of her... She was totally wet and just didn't want to shake the water off. She just looked at me like "Why did you do that? And what now?".

It was really hot that day, about 30 degrees. After the shooting I dried her with a towel!

piggy: Mimi (born in June 2015; female; short-haired piggy)

Same shooting:

Old splash-photos with Fritzi:

When I did these photos I was so happy about them and I loved them so much, also the deviants loved that shooting (it got so many favs) and I was so proud! But that's a long time ago (for me)... I made great progress, I think, and I learned so much about photography in general, image composition, photo editing (with gimp and DPP), about RAW photos and how to bring the most out of a lens in the last 2 years. That's the reason for why I wanted a "remake" of the splash-shooting!

You must have a new camera.

Why do think that?

MoonlitCrescent In reply to Calitha-Lena [2015-09-05 08:30:36 +0000 UTC]

Because every time I tried something like this with my few-year-old camera, it came out very poorly. I figured you must have a fancy new camera

oh... I wouldn't have money for a new cam. I use my Canon 550D since summer 2012.... It depends on the settings what kind of photo you can take (with good quality).
The only new thing is, that I work with RAW now. ^-^

RAW? WHat settings did you use?

Calitha-Lena In reply to MoonlitCrescent [2015-09-06 12:10:59 +0000 UTC]

If you don't know what RAW is, you sould google it. It's a format like jpg or png, but with more features for high quality photography. Every professional photographer is using it. :3
You can always read the settings on the right side below the group informations. It's called camera data.

For me it was very helpful to read photography books. I learned how to use all those many features you can set on your camera (also which settings you need for a specific shot) and how to work with RAW.

Well my camera is clearly too old to use it >.<

What settings would you recommend for a picture of this?

I see. I'm sure they are very helpful, but I don't have the time to do that I'm afraid.

Calitha-Lena In reply to MoonlitCrescent [2015-09-07 22:03:40 +0000 UTC]

pictures with action need at least a shutter speed von 1/800 to freeze up the moment and with the flying waterdrops I needed at least a aperture of 5.6, to get all the drops on the pic. (:

But if you don't know the most important things about photography / your camera, you can't take beautiful images.

Thanks for that, they should prove useful ^^

You can, it's just a bit more difficult. And you learn as you go.

Mimi likes to be wet huh? Thats the first time I've heard of that with guinea pigs. Does she like her head wet? I know most piggies don't like that.

Really? thats cool, when my guinea pigs used to get bathes they hated getting their heads wet. Looking back it partly why I think I failed them as a caretaker.
