I like how you've framed the subject as it is, and no, I wouldn't have cropped it on the left side. It gives it more dimension, I think and value the symmetry from the horizontal...polls 
lighting and colors are good too.

well, what he said isn't wrong or right.
it's just a different point of view.
if you would move the camera like he said than yes, it would have this endless spiral abstract view.
personally I like it like this.
it gives the viewer multiple aproaches to look on this pic.
it can be from the upper side, the lower side, your left or right side.
there are no limits and you don't define a specific way to look on it.
that's the greatnes of the pic - simple yet confusing at it's POV.
you make the viewer look more that 2 seconds at your picture and this is something we all wish for.
to break the normality....

Looks great from an interesting angle. I like the warm light that's cast on it; prevents it from having a cold, artificial feel you sometimes get from metal structures.

Just fantastic...
The lines in contrast with the sky makes a very good effect, and the most interesting fact in the image is that U rotaded it...!
But still I always preffer landscape than vertical...

a nice shot, the only thing that i would suggest would be next time try moving the camera a bit more so that you dont see the end of the rail. Tha way it give the effect of going on forever. But still a nice shot.
