i know what vectors are in physics ans stuff, but what are they in respect to drawing?

Ahah tis ok. It's when you use anything to draw that logs your paths, in other words the strokes you've made. The Pen tool on photoshop is a good example, thats what I use

ah. i hate the pen tool. i find it annoying, and just when you think you get the hang of it, you fuck up.
