it's supposed to showcase his pain after darla stakes herself to give birth to their child

This is such a great showcasing of Angel's grief that I almost start crying myself if I watch it too long. And I don't even like Darla or most of that storyline! I love gritty/not detailed style except on the face. Wonderful

You loved then of course the scene in s5 where Angel picks up the phone and receives the news that Cordy died
Did you know David is the only actor who appeared in the first and final (aired) episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the first and final episodes of its spin-off Angel?
With the cancellation of Angel, this means that David was the only actor to appear at the beginning and end of creator Joss Whedon's Sunnydale stories.
