agreed! my 1955 pawnshop B-25 is now disabled (with a cracked top) I keep it on the wall 'cause it's beautiful, my 1967 ES355 (Lucille) sold - I still mourn - but I'll never part with my 1994 J200 & RB100(?) banjo...+ a good old 1967 Yamaha 300 that rings more and more like a bell...enjoyed the old pics of Deek and the boys in action...

I had an L6 that I bought in 1978 for $200.
Traded it even for my SG. It's a '68.
Here's the back.
I threw the whammy bar that came with it into the Chemung River.
I could probably actually find it if I looked for it!

SGs are great...we don't need no stinking whammy bars...I saw that stamp -- liked it...my son got my old SG away from me...he's better than I am anyway...so he deserves it

One guitar I always loved the sound of is a Les Paul.
Personally, they never felt comfortable to me when I would try to play on one.
Until I had the honor to play Earl Slick's double cutaway. Somehow it didn't seem as fat and felt great in my hands

It's a '68. I got it in '78.
I had a brand new L6 that I paid $200 for and traded even for the SG at a guitar shop in Ithaca, NY.
The main reason I got such a great deal was that I went with two friends at the time.
One had a really nice Les Paul (not sure which model or year)
The other had some kind of Fender bass.
We traded our three guitars even for the three we got.
The shop really wanted the Paul.
We came out with my SG, a Gibson Flying V, and a Thunderbird bass.
Those three axes looked great together on stage!
