Thanks. Too bad you missed it. Still a chance to catch it on the barge in June,
when it moves from JFK to the Intrepid.

June 6 - lifted aboard by crane.

Ffff, awesome. I love driving by the Intrepid. Always pass by it when going to the Javits center. Thank you for the links and date!

Finally! A decent photo! Thank you very much. I was unlucky enough to not know it was coming in and not have my camera either and all of the photographs I've found thus far are sub-par [including those from NASA].
Good work.

Thanks. I took a bunch, and was lucky to get this one in such detail.
There's some pretty decent shots (including the fly-by route map) here...

Has anyone heard what will happen to the plane now? Will NASA adapt her for other uses, or will she be retired, too?

NASA has discontinued the Shuttle Program.
Word has it that there are "longer range" projects in the works.

I know. Like I aid i wonder what they'll do with the plane? If they'll retire it or adpat it for hauling something else. Like they adapted the launch pads. They were originally built for the Saturn V program and then modified for the shuttle.

It will return to NASA Dryden in California, where it will be used as a parts donor for the SOFIA 747 along with the other SCA.

It's too bad the shuttle couldn't fly itself there. Pretty weird seeing a commercial jet totting a rocket around like a baby.

When it comes to "flying within Earth's atmosphere", the shuttle is just a glider.
