Description Cicada molts.
Is the catagory "Insects and Spiders" really correct now that the insect is no longer really there? LOL!

Great shot! It's amazing how they can get out of the entire husk without damaging it.

If you poke it - it falls off the tree, floats to the ground and blows away!

Hey, I rescued on of these dudes a few weeks ago. We were traveling across country
for a funeral and it was 3 in the morning at some gas station in the middle of
who-knows-where. I heard this loud commotion and there was a cicada laying flat on
his back. I flipped him over, and he gave me a quick CHIRP as if to say, "Thanks, Mate!"
and then flew off.

Yeah, the cicada is a pretty ugly bugger for how harmless it is!

Did you happen to see the Cicaida come out? In some states the bugs vary and look prettier than the ones here.

Have to say though this bug I will always dislike; they just drop from the sky wherever they want around my house and die.

Didn't see it coming out.
They don't bite or sting, but they do have prickly feet and they
might try to latch on to you if they think you're a tree!
