She's simply giving into her Passion that she knows is there. If she doesn't, just like how Timid did with her fear in "Fear Itself" by manifesting the Wicked Scary monster into the real world as it picked the Titans off one-by-one, Passion could make her act out against Raven's wishes, thereby making things more awkward than they are.

Caremel Apple....
If they didn't like each other, then what was up with all the unintended "moments" in the series and the eventual (in Geoff's comics that follow the NTT era comics that the show's based on) hook-up in issue #30?

TherealRNO In reply to CaramelApple [2006-08-21 12:42:16 +0000 UTC]
'Never said I didn't like 'em as a couple, I just don't support them as being canon.'
But they are comic canon...The show, though largely based around the NTT era, also used some bits from Geoff (the "hinted-as-moments-via-shippers" stuff, for instance), just as Geoff used the show's toon version of the Titans for future issue reference & whatnot.

TherealRNO In reply to CaramelApple [2006-08-21 12:38:49 +0000 UTC]
But, the thing is...they--at least, in the comics--are canon.
True, Wyatt said that nothing romantic was happening between the two & this was true to the extent of what was happening at the time, considering that the show was mainly based upon the NTT era, with Rob/Star as the main pairing with BB/Terra as the short fling it was as per the "Judas Contract".
And even though Hoegee liked to do BB/Rae stories, he said he never viewed them together...BUT!
He also noted that they "fight like a married couple" more than brother/sister, which meant that, although nothing was happening (to the extent that they were in Geoff's comics), the TT writers--IMO--were also hinting at something down the line.
How? Well, just as Geoff was inspired to use the Titans' toon looks in future comic issues, the show--IMO--was inspired by how Geoff worked the relationship of Beast Boy & Raven in the early going (meaning, before they were "official"), hence the "moments" of where BB would say something, such as suggesting herbal tea over tofu when it came to breakfast, causing Raven to blush for a few seconds before responding, "Actually...breakfast sounds...nice", as per Nevermore, the "We're having a moment here, don't ruin it" line in The Beast Within, or the "playful banter" between the two, pitting BB's humor against Rae's sarcasm, often with funny results.

I do realize that in the current comics, BB/Rae is canon. In the cartoon however, they're nothing more than good friends.
Derrick Wyatt has repeated himself in saying that there was and never will be anything romantic between them in the cartoon.
Rob Hoegee also said, and I quote, "My favorite relationship would have to be the relationship between Beast Boy and Raven. Not that there's anything going on there. Because seriously guys, there's not." And then goes on to say "I think deep down they really care about each other, just not that way" IMO I think Rob was talking especially to people who believe BB/R is canon in the cartoon, and was trying to hit the nail on the head once and for all by confirming that they don't care for each other romantically.
My mom always says that my brother and I fight and bicker like an old married couple. That doesn't mean she's suggesting we care for each other a way a married couple would. o__O Rob was simply making a joke about how Beast Boy and Raven bicker and love to get on each other's nerves.
Don't get me wrong, people can ship the couple all they want. Hey, like I said, I like the idea of them together as well. I just don't think it's actually going to happen in the show.

And I didn't say it would, given the era the show is based on (NTT)...BUT! I AM saying that--despite protests from Wyatt, Hoegee, and Geoff--people will assume something is going on if they have BB almost try to rescue Raven & have Raven being the one to shut BB up, and all such things when they could just do the same by putting another Titan in Raven (or BB's) place. Also, because the show inspired Geoff, I believe that Geoff--unintentionally--inspired the show, with the "moments" (and the "fight like a married couple" answer that really, was a cop-out answer, IMO)...

TherealRNO In reply to CaramelApple [2006-08-29 12:48:37 +0000 UTC]
Agreed. I say Geoff--unintentionally, for he never meant to--inspired the show "moments", which only fueled the fandom further and gave Geoff all the more reason to try and make the two go together in his comics, not to mention that the show had already inspired him by allowing him to use the Titans' toon outfits as inspiration for future issues.
And because of that, people will associate Geoff with many of the show's "moments", as he was the only one to see past the bro/sis relationship of year's past & turn it into something more, which is weird, because many people think that BB & Rae on the show have a bro/sis relationship--and they do, to an extent--but there's much more to it than what is being put down....For as noted, Rob Hoegee himself--a writer on the 2003 TT TV series--has been confirmed in saying that the two "fight like an old married couple", as opposed to the bro/sis idea, which may lead some viewers into thinking that there's more than meets the eye about the two.
I mean, if Raven treats Robin as her "compulsive obessive" & leaderly brother, Cyborg plays the "older brother" role (is out-going & ready to "throw down", but can also be one to talk to when times get rough), and Starfire is the oft-hyper "sister" that is vastly different than Raven herself, then where does BB lie in Raven's "family", so to speak?

Oh, I can agree that Geoff's idea of making BB/Rae canon came from fans, many of them fans from the show. But, I just think that people are looking far too into the "married couple" thing. Rob Hoegee was talking about the way they agrue about silly little things, not about the way they feel about each other when saying that. It's funny, because I think Rob accidentally caused people to think their was some "hidden meaning" behind his words when he used "fight like a married couple" so loosely, when in fact he was only trying to disprove people's idea that BB/R is canon in the cartoon.
I think all the Titan's have some sort of family/siblling relatonship between each other. If Cy is the older brother, Robin is the protective brother, Starfire is like her sister, and Beast Boy fits just fine as her annoying younger sibling figure. They bug each other, but deep down you know they care, just not that way. The Titans aren't just a team, they really are like a family. And plus, with Rob/Star being canon, I don't think the writers would have wanted them to become a team of couples by throwing in BB/Rae. Having everyone or almost everyone in the team paired off with each other would be just...silly, and would ruin the kind of family bond they all share.

No it wouldn't, for everyone pairs up--for short times--in the comics:
Rob/Star (NTT)
BB/Rae (Geoff)
Cy/Sarah Simms (TTGO! & for short time in NTT)

CaramelApple In reply to TherealRNO [2006-09-09 01:19:31 +0000 UTC]
Well, I meant for everyone to be paired up all at the same time. And I'm sure the writers wouldn't break up Robin and Star to Beastboy and Raven together.

*nods* The thing is...they broke Rob & Star in the comics (with Dick proposing to Barbra Gordan)...and then, Geoff paired BB/Rae up. But, when the marriage was anulled, making Dick a free man again--at the same time, another crisis occured, and as a result--the BB/Rae relationship slowly withered (but it's still in existance, because Raven still loves BB & he loves her, but like any relationship there's bound to be bumps in the road).

Edit: I have changed my mind and feel that the show--though action-based--can have two couples with Victor as a kick-ass fifth wheel.
