A sketch I did today of Ginger Rogers. She's famous for dancing alongside Fred Astaire in about 10 movies. This was inspired by Swing Time
I didn't use any blending on this. I used a mech. pencil and a 6B, on this medium textured drawing pad. The paper is 14" x 17".
One major problem I've noticed with this is the eyes are too far apart. At least too far apart for Ginger.
The hair was actually really boring D: This was one of the first times I've had to struggle to get through hair. But it's the first time in a while that I've drawn blonde hair successfully
Sorry about the terrible picture quality. It was taken with my phone, because I have no other means to get large drawings/paintings onto the computer.
I've got a lot of pictures of actors from 1930-60, so I'm going to be doing some more old Hollywood drawings soon! Some that I've got are Nanette Fabray, Cary Grant, Helen Broderick, Fred Astaire again...

She's super pretty. How did you get the black under her chin so well black?
Everytime I use mechanical pencils or even pencils in general to shade it always comes out super shiny and there's a glare on it when I scan it and take a photo.
Kudos to you for that not happening! lol

I think I put it kind of under the shadow of a tree so the sun wasn't shining on it. Unfortunately that makes it a bit dark, but oh well. Ugh, that shine thing drives me crazy! Scanners just...shouldn't do that

Yeah I always have to force myself to do the hair in slow stages otherwise I'll rush it and then it'll turn out crappy!

Her hair is gorgeous (I meant your sketching but yes, Ginger Rogers has beautiful hair) and like the shadowing in it.
The eyes are very strong and natural, they pull the attention.

Oh wow, i think this is beautiful. Even on a crappy cell phone picture, you can see the details. I suggest you find a way to upload it in a better quality image because this picture isn't doing it justice

This is amazing! The highlights in the hair look perfect, and the eyes are gorgeous. You really did a great job. I cant say I know who this woman is, but I don't think the eyes are too far apart. But, like you said, maybe for her they are? But it looks perfect to me. lol Awesome job.

Wow I don't have much to say about this!^^ The technique is perfect and the result outstanding. Really sad that the quality is pretty bad. You should ask for someone who's got a better camera or scanner!
