This is beautiful!
I love how naturalistic it is and at the same time that it's splatter-y and cool. And it's adorable.
You managed to capture the texture of fur really well, and also the shiny-ness of the eyes.
Really good job, seriously.

nope! I just jump right on in.
For other pieces I may do various sketches and thumbnails on paper first, but I never paint over sketches. I think it looks tacky.

Even with sketching prior, you never know what the end result will look like. I paint for the experience of painting, not for the result. That's what makes art fun.
