Description A long-overdue updated version of my color chart \o/

It seems like my previous one was useful to some people, and I've been getting asked to put up a more recent one since the 2008 version is like, ancient orz;;

Scanning did change a few shades, but I've tweaked the levels on Photoshop as best as I could for them to look identical to the actual colors on paper. This should be slightly more reliable than the official Copic chart which isn't saying much.

Please note that I don't have all of the colors that are available for Copic Sketch! I have no idea how many I have, actually OuO;;

One of my most frequently asked questions is where I get my markers. If you're in the US, I recommend www.carpediemstore.com where they sell them for $4.50-5 each, which is a whole lot cheaper than the retail price. If you're out of the states, you can try ebay or www.dickblick.com.

The colors that are underlined in red are the ones that I like the most and use most often.

Hope this will be of some use to Copic artists out there!

Much better than my chart! I appreciate this as I just started toying with Copics. Having a starting point and reference (by someone that actually knows how to use them) is VERY helpful!

I'll also suggest PeriodStyle. Their 72 sets are $352 USD instead of $324 USD BUT you can customize a set specifically to your needs. So it's also pretty cheap, not to mention they sent me a ton of free samples of paper!

Super belated response to this as I was skimming through looking for color charts and stuff and found this post... but PeriodStyle still does the Custom 72 Boxsets at the $352 price. Super useful and you get the colors you want, versus a whole bunch that you'll never use. I got my set back in November (2016) and I've pretty much used every single one of them. They still send the samples of paper as well.

uhm, i was wondering, what colours do you usuall use for coloring the skin? '
i wanted to buy some copics too, but iam not sure which ones to buy.. (:

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

kazenoken14 In reply to LadyPaardevoortse [2012-09-20 04:59:22 +0000 UTC]

At first glance E02 seems nice but do not get that unless you're planning on very dark or pink skin-- it doesn't match most colours in my opinion.
For beginners, E00 is the best skin color and I believe, the most used one! (I use it too~)
Since cartoongirl7 is a pro, many many colours r necessary for her, but for beginners, i think just E00 would do (but if you really want E02 can work as the shades for underneath bangs and simple shading.
using copics are hard and expensive though :S

thank you so much for replying my message, i've just bought a starter set of 12 and a blender, e00 r00 and e51, now iam just going to expand it, do you have an idea which colours i should buy first (for all sot of colouring) but for example which sorts of green, yellow or blue? and which paper do you use?

sorry for the many questions, but i want to make a good start by getting advises of people whom are much better as me! (:

thanks again!

good idea is to start with darker or pale colors. You'll probably barely use the bright greens and purples. But then again it depends on your style of coloring.

I'm a beginner too, but that's how I find it to be > <

I'm not sure how much she has... I'm guessing over 100 / 300 for all the colors she has used.
But normally $7! At my art store they're $5.50 though. So it depends.
