Description
Amy knew the job was dangerous when she took it. When working with Shadow the Hedgehog, there was always a delicate balance that needed to be maintained. When on his good side, Shadow was arguably a greater ally than Sonic the Hedgehog himself. Fiercely loyal, and driven to complete his mission by any means necessary. Get on his bad side, however, and there was a chance you wouldn't live to tell the story. Though they were once mistaken for each other, Shadow was most definitely not Sonic. Shadow's moral compass didn't lean nearly as far on the side of good as Sonic's did. Shadow would do things Sonic wouldn't if it meant accomplishing his goals.

The pink hedgehog truly admired Shadow's tenacity, even Sonic wasn't as driven to action as Shadow was. But for this particular mission, she could see a potential for a fight that didn't need to happen. Shadow didn't like to spend time explaining himself...and even if he had the time, he wouldn't use it. And this mission required assistance from another one of Amy's friends, one with a temper that easily rivaled and even surpassed Shadow's own.

Knuckles the Echidna, Guardian of the all-powerful Master Emerald and stubborn warrior with fists that went through walls with a single punch.

It didn't take long for Amy to track Shadow down. If she could find Sonic wherever in the world he was, Shadow would be no different. Once she did, she pleaded with him to let her go too, citing that she wanted to help. Amy smiled when Shadow relented, knowing that ever since their exchange on the Space Colony A.R.K. back when they first met, Shadow had a bit of a soft spot for her. True, he'd forgotten why that place in his heart was there at some point, but it never really went away. So with her in tow, Shadow teleported to Angel Island using Chaos Control, and soon enough they found Knuckles, taking a nap right in front of the Master Emerald.

"Typical Knuckles," Amy scoffed with her hands on her hips. "Sleeping on the job like always." Amy's attempt to make light of the situation fell on deaf ears, as Shadow simply walked up the stairs to the shrine. The pink hedgehog rushed to catch up. She needed to remember that Shadow wasn't Sonic, he wasn't known for his sense of humor.

As soon as they reached the emerald, Knuckles's eyes opened and he regarded the two hedgehogs with a suspicious gaze, an eyebrow raised slightly. "Well, not that I mind having visitors, but you two aren't exactly regulars around here." Knuckles hopped off the emerald and crossed his arms over his chest. "What brings you to Angel Island?"

"We need the Master Emerald."

Knuckles actually chuckled, something extremely rare for him. "Somehow I had a feeling that was what this was about. Amy, maybe. But you Shadow, you don't make pleasure visits." The echidna placed his hands on his hips. "So you gonna tell me why you want the emerald and dunk Angel Island in the ocean again?"

"I don't have time to waste explaining." Shadow stepped torward the emerald. "As soon as the mission is complete, we'll bring it back." Then Knuckles gave Shadow a hard shove, and the black hedgehog staggered back a few steps as his mouth curled into a sharp snarl. "You do not want to test me guardian."

"Actually I've been wanting a rematch with you for a while, so yeah I do! Sparring with Sonic is getting boring!" Knuckles got his oversized fists up as he got into a fighting stance. "Either you give me an explanation for why you need the Master Emerald or things are gonna get ugly!"

Shadow responded by raising his arms to charge forward. "You've made your choice."

This was exactly what Amy was worried about. The whole exchange, the pink hedgehog had been looking back and forth between the two males as the conversation spiralled out of control. Knuckles and Shadow were arguably the best pure brawlers she knew; Sonic was an excellent fighter but he used his speed more than actual fighting skill to do damage. A battle between the two of them could cause destruction worthy of a richter scale, and if they happened to shatter the Master Emerald again, then both of them would just be that much angrier. Someone could get hurt...someone could die.

"Please no, Shadow!"

Amy's shout prompted the black hedgehog to briefly take his eyes off his opponent. "We need the emerald, if you're only going to get in my way, do yourself a favor and leave now!"

"No!" This time Amy stepped in front of Shadow, her arms spread wide. "Let's just explain why we need it! Maybe he can even help us! We'd waste more time fighting Knuckles than explaining the situation!"

"You actually expect me to back down?"

"I EXPECT you to use that ultimate brain of yours and see the logic of my solution! We don't have time to waste pointlessly beating on each other, let's work together instead!"

The two hedgehogs stared each other down, Amy's gaze matching Shadow's intensity. Finally after several moments, Shadow relaxed his stance and turned away with his eyes closed. "Do what you will."

"Thank you Shadow." Amy smiled and turned to Knuckles, whose fists were still up but were slowly lowering. "Let me just start from the beginning. I'm sure once you hear this, you'll be happy to help."

"I dunno about happy," Knuckles replied. "But we'll see."

As Amy began to explain the situation to the Master Emerald guardian, Shadow opened one eye to peek at her as she spoke. Unnoticed by either of the other two, the black hedgehog allowed himself the tiniest of smirks as he crossed his arms over his chest. "Amy Rose, your ability as a diplomat never ceases to amaze..." He thought silently to himself. "In a way, you're just like Maria."

Ohhhh goodness. Okay, so, for those of you who are unaware. I have the ability to be an SFM artist. This is something I put together as a thank you for who did some work for me a while back. She loves Amy and Shadow doing stuff together and she loves when Knuckles gets a chance to be awesome...so...why not combine the two together?! I've honestly wanted to do something like this for a while, I love action stuff. So in any case, hope you like this Silhouette! Enjooooy!!
