Well, it was quite a game! However after Cleveland was up 3-1 in the series and seemed as though they'd take it, I was commissioned by The New York Times to do an illustration with a Cubs loss. The idea was to take Norman Rockwell's 1948 Saturday Evening Post cover 'The Dugout' and update it with current Chicago players and uniforms etc. It was a lot to paint in the time I had (even threw big celebrity Indians fans Tom Hanks and LeBron James in the crowd) But alas it was not to be and will not be published. As a lifelong Cubs fan, I appreciate you posting this. It's a wonderful piece of art and I would love to have it hanging in my house. It is a shame that it wasn't published, it's amazing!

I am not a necessarily fan of baseball, but I love the Rockwell-style artwork you employed and the atmosphere of loss drifting over the team makes that disappointment easy to see, which is a plus. Even if the Cleveland Indians did not win -- I would assume that at least you were paid by the Times -- the artwork is phenomenal.
...and I thought I recognized Tom Hanks sitting in the audience.

Amazing job. Rockwell's art is a great style and you captured it wonderfully (as a Cubs fan though, kinda glade it did not go this way. Sorry) plus, in some alternate universe, this is probably on display. Once again, great job.
