Thanks! This design is one I have made four of... each slightly different and each becomes more bold to my eye.

This one definately caught my eye. Is there a story behind the concept, sense you've done four?

It all started with a seven foot long by two foot wide plank and the desire to carve it rather than to make a piece of furniture.. that piece led the way and I loved how much detail and depth you could get from a plank that two others.. smaller followed. This one was done as a trade for a painting from an artist I enjoy and I chose the design because i was comfortable... each board has it's own size and I don't really try to be exact so I adjust proportions and change small things as it comes along. The painting took three days for the artist to make so I made it a point to work quickly and boldly. The person who owns it thinks they got the better deal but time wise it was about equla and could only be that way for my familiarity with the concept...

the real beauty of a thin carving like this is that nice dry boards are easier to find than full chunks.. and being board it is lighter and easier to handle but still gives a lot of depth and detail. These rely more on the lines I feel where as a thicker one rely's more on form?
glad you enjoyed it!
