Description God, I feel like a deaf person with an iPod or a dumb person on a telephone! Being (partially) colourblind, I've always had trouble with green and red hues. But I simply had to use them with this one: green being Voldemort's colour and all... I can't see this picture moving at all, I just see occasionally that some part of it gets thicker (try turning off the colour on your monitor to see what I mean), so making this avatar's been real pain. But it was worth it.
This (mysterious) symbol is located on the spine of the Deathly Hallows (HP7, UK edition), so, naturally, many theories have been circuling around (see, I mean hear MuggleCast [link] ), the most convincing one that the symbol represents broken eternity, but the theory that caught my... erm... ear was the one that it was Voldemort's symbol (6 spaces in the symobol = 6 Horcruxes) and the fact that you could spell "Lord Voldemort" out of the symbol. The avatar shows you how.

That isnt Voldemorts symbol ... thats the Deathly Hallows. Voldemort has the dark mark, the snake and skull ...

That's the Deathly Hallows symbol, not Voldemort's. Voldemort's is the Dark Mark.

Guys, seriously, come on. Read the page before you get all hissy and rude. This was posted in 2007 back when NO ONE knew about the deathly hallows and everyone was still speculating about the book. Besides which, about 50 million other idiots have already flamed this poor artist before you. READ THE DESCRIPTIONS AND POST DATA, FOR GOODNESS' SAKE.

I, personally, quite like this avatar. Fav.

Hm.... one could spell almsot anything with this symbol.... although it seems impossible to make a y out of it so.... it's impossible to spell deathly hallows. Kind of ironic.

I think its funny how many people tell you about it being the deadly hollows symbol... eventhough there were 4 before them already exclaiming it.

>< you didn't mention that the symbols are supposed to be all three of the deathly hollows, the triangle is the invisiblity cloak, the circle os the stone, and the line down the middle is the wand.......

GoreDraken [2007-10-04 17:48:25 +0000 UTC]

It wasn't even Grindelwalds. It was naturally the sign of the Hallows, Triangle = Cloak, Line = Elder wand and the Circle = Resurrection stone.

Grindelwald pinched the symbol but Voldy never really used it 'cos he wasn't interested in the others was he? Just the unbeatable wand.

Hehe Nice avvie though.

doesn't the artist know it's the symbol for deathly hallows? I mean the Hues are just showing something that could make it voldy's symbol. I think its a neat idea. Amazing =]

nicky--alvara [2007-07-23 21:01:36 +0000 UTC]

Someone probably already said this, but it's the sign for the Deathly Hallows. I don't want to spoil too much, so I'll keep the rest quiet.

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

Petronieska [2007-07-23 17:13:24 +0000 UTC]

Exactly, The symbol was Grindelwald's, not Voldys. Nice picture!

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

upiorek333 [2007-07-22 19:00:55 +0000 UTC]

You were very close! The symbol was Grindelwald's, not Voldys. (And yep, it represents the 3 objects known as Deathly Hallows, but I'm not saying anything more.) Anyway, why would Voldy need another symbol, he already has the dark mark.

miza-estraz In reply to CASPeR3 [2009-05-19 20:40:17 +0000 UTC]

Greendesire is right.
In HP7 they go into depth about the Deathly Hallows. That is the Symbol for them.
Grindelwald used it as /his/ symbol.
