Raoul Silva: "Hello, James. Welcome. Do you like the island? My grandmother had an island. Nothing to boast of. You could walk around it in an hour, but still it was, it was a paradise for us.
One summer, we went for a visit and discovered the place had been infested with rats. They'd come on a fishing boat and gorged themselves on coconut. So how do you get rats off an island? Hmm? My grandmother showed me. We buried an oil drum and hinged the lid. Then we wired coconut to the lid as bait and the rats would come for the coconut and... they would fall into the drum. And after a month, you have trapped all the rats, but what do you do then? Throw the drum into the ocean? Burn it? No. You just leave it and they begin to get hungry. And one by one...

...they start eating each other until there are only two left. The two survivors. And then what? Do you kill them? No. You take them and release them into the trees, but now they don't eat coconut anymore. Now, they only eat rat. You have changed their nature.

The two survivors. This is what she made us."

------------

I loved everything about Skyfall, but this scene with Javier Bardem as Silva was simply brilliant.

Miniature drawing, as big as a €2 coin, drawn on 25 x 35mm size / 1" x 1.4" .

I wanted to portray the overall image as some sort of opening scene for the James Bond movies. The 2 figures were the smallest I have ever drawn (so far anyway.)
The heads of Bond and Silva are none bigger than 4mm x 5mm / 0.15" x 0.2" . Yeah, I don't know what I was thinking either. lol

Drawn with 0.3mm mechanical pencils. I used 2H for the outlines and shading, and HB + 2B for the dark parts.
Faded effect was created with torillion and a kneaded eraser.

Last but not least I want to dedicate this to 2 of my friends, *visualwings and *DemonicEssence .

I hope you enjoy

hey in order to draw the picture so small and detailed do you look at the original photo really big or the same size as what you draw? btw this is AMAZING!!!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Cataclysm-X In reply to shevyblat [2013-06-11 16:54:00 +0000 UTC]

I always use the same size reference image but sometimes I check a larger and more detailed version when I'm not sure about what kind of shading to use

omg this is so damn tiny! How do you use a kneaded eraser here? And do you use a quite thick paper for drawing that small figures? I'd guess the structure of the paper might be in the way.
anyway, it's an awesome work!
