I totally love Yuna but Lulu would have been nice to romance. It would give the games replay value, at least!
I also love that I could date Barret in FFVII!
I kind of fear that romance in games will go down a bit in the coming years since everyone is concerned with diversity and having romance from a male leads perspective might be considered problematic now. Games get a lot of flak for being to male oriented. Making every game have romance from both male and female perspectives is really hard and time consuming so I bet we just won't see it as much, sadly.

Go with your gut instinct, God knows since Western VG "journalism" became more prominent around 06' the hate for Japanese companies became more apparent and the suck up for Western companies became even more apparent, I am looking at you, Bethesda.

CatCouch In reply to CardinalSynFan [2016-12-15 03:57:16 +0000 UTC]
The journalism is definitely bottom barrel stuff right now. I think a good amount of writers got into games with the X-Box and western shooters in the 00's while people like me got into games with JRPGs in the 90's. They're very different demographics, I just wish Journalists didn't push their bias into their writing.
It's easy to tell when a reviewer played 30 minutes of a 50 hour RPG, especially when they complain about the depiction of women instead of the quality of the game.
Bethesda getting a pass on broken games, like the PS3 Skyrim, isn't helping matters.
I've been reading this about FFXV:www.neogaf.com/forum/showthrea…
If true it's pretty interesting. It's impressive the game came out as well as it did.

Well, how is your impressions with FFXV so far? Well, a lot of the West I hear has been unanimous on their claiming it is a step in the right direction and ways above FFXIII, so thankfully with all the problems SE had the last decade (moslty because of this incompetent hack of Wada... >.>) they are slowly but surely approaching the right direction.
And yes, I agree, video game journalism is NOT to be trusted, GamerGate was not only right it was the ONLY opinion that was right.
www.theguardian.com/technology… 60/100 review score Check the Gaurdian article!
Cindy’s design is laughable, but she draws attention to a broader problem with the game: its overwhelming maleness. The first Final Fantasy without a single female playable character, it could perhaps be defended as an examination of male friendship and bonding if the game actually examined male friendship and bonding. At least it’s not as bad as the prequel film, Kingsglaive, which relegated the sole female character to the role of MacGuffin, an object to be fought over, who is at one point literally told not to bother trying anything at all because she’s not the hero.
www.metacritic.com/game/playst… DA:I a game that is WORST than FFXV in EVERY aspect
www.metacritic.com/game/playst… Fallout 4 a regression of the series even below the mediocre Fallout 3 and the still technically incompetent Bethesda that cant get arsed to create a good engine.
I laugh at Metacritic, really, and at gaming journalism at large that is nothing more than propaganda.

XV feels good for the most part. The story is disjointed and way too easy, I'm at level 75 in ch.10. Doing side-quests makes you way too powerful. I've never had a game over, either. Love the four guys on a road trip element as it really nails the friendship angle with all the photography and camping.
My opinion of journalism as a whole has really dropped after Trump won, it's just constant blaming and name calling.
I mean, the Guardian that you quoted also wrote this earlier this month:
www.theguardian.com/technology…
Tying gaming to Trump, really? Caring about games is a sign I'm alt right? Why is everything politicized? The industry deserves better coverage/journalism as it's grown exponentially over the last 10 years or so.
It's hypocritical of them to put all gamergate supporters into a box and label it a hate group. I though we were supposed to view people as individuals and not tie an entire group to the offensive actions of a few?
CNN did it too:
money.cnn.com/2016/12/06/techn…
I do agree Bethesda needs a new game engine, not just updates to the Creation engine. Elder Scrolls and Fallout are really glitchy and have the same problems in each game. New Vegas and Skyrim were nightmares to play on the PS3 with all the frame rate issues and increased crashing the longer I played.

Good, when you are finished with it, please tell me (no spoilers please) how you felt about it? ^^
And yes, it is not a hard game, no FF was, aside for the superbosses they are generally easy.
And yes, "The Guardian" is an infested cesspool that could NOT discern, they could NOT tell trolling and a man parodying being a SJW than reality...of course it is hard to do so.
If you don't know Godfrey Elwick you are doing yourself a diservice. menofthewest.net/2016-troll-of… READ THE BELLOW ARTICLE and tell me if you think it is parody (it is) or genuine critisism.
www.theguardian.com/commentisf…
Tell me about it, their games were really unplayable on PS3. Well, at once point Bethesda's games were really tolerated because they were the only ones that were producing high production values open world games, I suspect this will stop in the coming years in a Post-Witcher 3 world...or I am simply too optimistic.

I finished it! FFXV ranks high among FF games for me, flawed but the good is really good. Chapters 1-9 feel like a completely different game from 10-14, though. It's really surprising how fast it pushes you along to the end. Definitely needed another year of development. Got 84% of the trophies, now to get that Platinum!
I finally sat down to read reviews for it and was sad how much fighting over Cindy there is. Jim Sterlings review is my favorite, the comments are full of so much hate.
This is my favorite comment:
"Any who unironically uses stupid fucking terms like "SJW" is a complete fucking moron.
Saying it's a Japanese is not a good excuse, it's fucking lazy.
Go back to Brietbart and go suck on Milo's dick you brain-dead piece of shit."
Not very civil and why is it a political attack?. Lots of that here:www.thejimquisition.com/final-…
I'm surprised the Guardian didn't pick up on how absurd that article was. "On one occasion I even, I am ashamed to admit, very diplomatically expressed negative sentiments on Islam to my wife."
That sentence should have made it clear they were being trolled. They believe white men are being "radicalized" online so I guess it would be hard for them to tell parody apart from their reality.
Yeah, the Witcher 3 really stepped the game up. I hope we get some high quality Elder Scrolls in the future. They need to adapt. At least Fallout 4 ran better that 3 and New Vegas.

Well, I got a PS4! I am about to get it, and what an opportunate moment as well, there are going to be a new patch that will get some bug fixes and of course New Game+ on the way. That is good, SE will not let this game die.
Yes, they needed one more year, I am sure they pushed it out this year so they can have it ready at the game's 10th birthday.
And from the reaction from gamers (GAMERS, not SJW thought police gamma manginas) is that this game has issues, of course, but a solid 8/10 and of course, BETTER than FFXIII so this means that SE managed to get some good faith and show she is capable of making GOOD FF games again, now they need to capitalize on that, FFVII:Remake is going to be the litmus test.
And boy, those guys on Jimquisition, if they are offended by pixelated titage then they kinda DESERVE to be offended by them and everything of the same nature.
And weird, I tried to reply to the commenter there, but my message seemed to have not passed the moderation walkway, oh well, it is not like I was using or visiting htat site anyhow.
And yes, Witcher 3 went so far it has become one of my best series, let us hope W4 whenever it comes will deliver as well, since Geralt wont be the protagonist.
And yes, I will give them that FO4 ran better than 3 and NV....but the RPG side of it suffered...

Awesome! I'm downloading the patch now. Patch notes say it has new cutscenes and new game+.
I think it's a solid move in the right direction. Nothing wrong with the game, it's just what isn't there that holds it down. The FFVII remake is my most anticipated game right now, I've even got some Tifa fan art in the works for when they show more of it. I really hope the western journalists don't just jump on it when they show Tifa... I really hate how sensitive they've become.
I'm waiting for Shantae Half Genie Hero right now and the first review for it had an issue with the revealing clothing in it. They used "feminize" like it was an issue. Why is feminine "questionable" and "surprising"? If reviewers are upset at femininity now, we are in for some real fighting over Tifa and stuff like the HoneyBee Inn in FFVII remake.
www.hardcoregamer.com/2016/12/…
I like Jim Sterling but I had to leave his site. He accused gamers of racism three times this year, one each for Watch Dogs 2, Mafia 3 and Virginia. All had black leads characters. For the record, I bought both Watch Dogs 2 and Virginia and got the platinum for Virginia. I followed those games, especially Virginia. He literally made it up. He has no evidence. Not one person brought race up, he just assumed people did. Seriously, watch his video below.
www.thejimquisition.com/the-ji…
I think he just makes stuff up so people can fight in his comments section to boost his relevance. It keeps him in business so I guess it's from from his point of view.

And I got the store.playstation.com/#!/en-gr… Digital Premium Edition at a good discount as well.
It is almost here, I can't wait, now I am mildly spoiled on the game, but anyhow, I managed to make good and having been relatively blind regarding most of it. I am going to enjoy it, I know. All of people say it is a good step in the right direction and better than 13, FF needs to be relevant again, and this is a way to do it.
And FF7 is another way, SE KNOWS they CANT botch this, their entire company's future would be in jeopardy if they did! And thanks that SE is not converged by SJW entryists (thus far) like Capcom was and is static1.gamespot.com/uploads/o… I'll never forget and wont buy SFV until this is back in. But hey, it seems that censorship hit them hard, the game is a comercial failure.
Never played the game, never even watched the franchise, is it good? And yes, I read the review now these guys have the opposite effect, whenever they deem a game "problematic" I want to play more of it than a game they praise.
This should be our united assault as consumers against their thought policing; buying and supporting games and creators they deem "problematic" while scorning games and creators that promote their narrative.
I know WD2 flopped in sales, and I heard that Mafia 3 did not lit the world on fire, but cant find its sales ration vis-a-vis his predecessors, but hey, shoving diversity down our throats is the easy way to lose your loyal costumer base as it has been proven time and time again, then all you left do is accusing or having your shills acusse said base for racism and intolerance...and then these words lose their meaning and here we are, 2016, with Trump winning. <3
Like I said I vowed off gaming journalism and everyone with indegrity should do the same.

Cool. I got the physical deluxe edition.
I just got the platinum trophy last night. That damn survival skill trophy was my last, I just put a rubber band around the joysticks and let Noctis run in circles for a few hours.
I have a lot of faith in the FFVII remake as a good amount of XV went in the right direction. I'm sure I read somewhere they were not going to remove the cross dressing Cloud stuff. Man I loved it, I played through the PS4 re-release of FFVII last year and still loved it. Capcom better stop with that crap. Their handling of SFV is pretty bad all around, it's the least fun fighter I've played in years.
Shantae is just awesome, I highly recommend playing both Risky's Revenge and Pirates Curse. Both are digitally available on PS4 now, which took way too long. They do a really good job on the "Metroidvania" style gameplay. They are classics to me just as Super Metroid and Castlevania SOTN are. Well worth supporting.
It's weird because WD2 is such a good game and it's lost among the games that came out this season. The need to make everything about race and sex probably scared some people away thinking it was all about diversity for diversities sake. It's not, it a pretty geeky game.
You're right about the journalism. The gaming journalists hurt more than help, telling us a game is sexist spurs interest in it and telling us gamers are racist if they don't like WD2 or Mafia 3 will push gamers away. They get the opposite of what they wanted.
The only site I regularly read is Niche Gamer. They cover games with sexy content without calling them sexist.

Well, I could not resist the Christmas Sale, it's CHRISTMAS after all. And boy, now they got me hooked to see what is episode Gladiolus, Ignis and Promto about.
So, about FFXV what is your final word? About the cast more importnatly, I heard the cast and ending got universal praise. I played a bit of Open Combat the night before, it will take a minute to get used to it, and still not sure why you cant hard-lock on an enemy unless I am missing something but overall, I enjoyed the experience, I mean I played a rough version but it looks like promising thus far, without putting skills and AI in the equation.
And yes, most if not ALL of FF's and SE's by extension mishapps were because of their previous CEO, Wada, that wanted to capitalize on mobile and handheld market, their new CEO is focusing on everything that can strengthen the brand and SE, West, East, mobile, MMO, console they are doing their best and it is visible by their recent output! It can only get better, the PS3 FFXIII days are like dark ages that now give their way to a new illuminating light, by LUMINUS engine. ^^
And yes, FF7:R is going to be devicive by fans, especially old fans and those whose first RPG was FF7, but it is going to be what fans want from an FF game: constant alteration and fresh new start for the series, this is what they excel at. I can't name a SINGLE franchice that has survived it's 15th iteration and is not just the same before, be it for good (Dark/Demon Souls) or bad (Call of Duty).
Funny enough, my PS4 came with two games: Assasin's Creed: Syndicate and Watch Dogs, I tried to play both of them but they did not appeal to me, not sure why, but I found them edgy and swallow, maybe because my hype for FFXV overlaps everything right now.
Although I am sure I wont enjoy AC, mostly because the opening scene that was a throat-shoving of diversity in our throats. Anyhow, diversity is doomed as evident by the results.
I will try to see it, what was their review about FF XV about?

CatCouch In reply to CardinalSynFan [2016-12-24 10:00:18 +0000 UTC]
There are a few characters and story choices I had problems with, nothing I can say without major spoilers though. I'm pretty sure I know what each DLC story is going to be for Ignis, Prompto and Gladiolus. The story seems to set up openings for explaining their roles better.
Some of the combat is odd, locking on can be a pain when you need to attack one enemy in the middle of a bunch, something that's needed way later in the game. The AI becomes less important later on, too. Some battles are just huge messes that are easier to handle going it alone and not even locking on, one battle in particular make locking on all but impossible.
I really hope SE keeps pushing to make fully realized games again. FFXV would have been perfect with a fleshed out story and the rough edges smoothed over. Shifting it from mobile to PS4 over a 10 year span definitely sucked some of the life out of it. The VII remake is going to be the big one for me to see if SE still has it.
I'm definitely one of those fans that started RPG's with VII (and Wild Arms). Unless it just fails outright like Dirge of Cerberus I will probably be happy though. I liked XIII a lot. Still need to play Lightning returns though.
I care nothing about Assassin's Creed or the first WD. They don't appeal to me either.
Niche Gamer? They were pretty hard on FFXV, gave it a 7. They called it unfinished, complained about magic and summons being limited and had issues with some of the characters. They said it felt like two different games mashed into one.

Oh, well, the patches have not fixxed anythingg? You sound that you had hardly a good time with the game.
In any case, I will play and judge for myself, it is a step in the right direction after all, not the return of SE's back to her glory 90's and mid 00's days. But i am sure I will enjoy it.
However I noticed that the game does not support a hard difficulty, at least it has some cool superbosses to fight at any rate?
Also bosses, I havent seen or played an Open World RPG that had memorable boss fights, I mean Witcher 3's only mistake in that regard for me. Also Skyrim's finall boss was a reskin of other bosses with buffed stats. (semisarcsm)
And yes, Nier Automata, Star Ocean 5, FF XV, World of FF, Dragon Quest 11, FF Dissidia, I am Setsuna, Saga: Scarlet Grace, KH 3 and KH Remix, FF 12 remaster and so on are good titles in a nice direction.
Also, speaking of Nier, some guys got offended that 2B showed on some more skin than normal. This one in particular at NeoGaf, I mean read it:
archive.is/S4Y2d and the golden one
archive.is/6ghw7
Oh, what WD 2 did better than one? And my first RPG was FF5 and third favourite FF after 8 and 7. ^^
I dont call '7' a hard score, It is a solid grade at least remembering from my previous PS1 Magazine scores.

The patches seem to have made some of it worse. Techniques stopped working for me, I used one of Gladio's and he just locked up and stopped moving for the rest of the battle (it was a boss battle too). I saw some other people with the same problem on Gamfaqs. Sucks but I was strong enough to solo my way through everything by the time the patch came out.
Some of the end game bosses are really hard, they aren't required for the trophies though. This does have some great boss designs and battles but it also misses the mark a number of times too. The story based bosses were pretty bad and one of the big optional bosses is downright terrible. Other optional bosses are great.
I can't wait for Nier: Automata. I think I'm going to get the black box collectors edition. I got two collectors editions of Drakengard 3 to support this series. Still have Drakengard 1 and 2. I put a bunch of time into Star Ocean 5 and liked it. World of FF is good too.
I saw people on gamfaqs making fun of Neogaf for calling for censorship if 2B's outfit. Gaf is just too hard to read for me. I was there for the Metal Gear Solid 5 story leaks and it was civil until someone brought up Quiet. They are just horrible when they talk about women.
I really blame magazines like Gameinformer for messing up the scores. Their scale listed 7 as rent and 5 and below as garbage. Here, I took a picture of one of my old magazines:
