P.S. I *LOVE* the atmosphere and mood in this piece, and how it gradually took me time to realize what I was looking at, how everyone's face is a simple emoticon.

You'll be glad to know that he HAS removed it after I called him out on it being stolen (he of course didn't credit you, even when I complimented him on the piece before I suspected anything).

However disturbing this picture is, it is also an incredible insight on today's society in regards to the aspect of electronic media.

This is one of the things that have a profound impact on people because it actually relates to real life. It's interesting to see everyone on their device at once, which emphasizes the point on what's going on in the drawing.
At first, I didn't realize it was emotes on their faces, when I did, it all came together. Yeah, this can be interpreted in a wide range of depths. But to me, that makes me think of how our faces and thoughts are replaced by the world we lose ourselves in on our devices. If that makes sense.
Anyway, the impact of this piece cannot be taken lightly, no matter which way one looks at it. You've got an incredible example of art teaching us here. Keep up the good work! ^^

Congratulations on the daily deviation!
I have to say I adore the symbolism of this piece, as we are in a constant state of being "plugged" to something. Lately, smartphones, laptops and tablets. But for the past decade at least, this has been a constant, and haven't many of us heard our parents that we're plugged on the mp3 player many times?
One of my favourite things is the child on the left, who is young, but as plugged as his mother. As a child, I was like this too, with my GBColor, but it seems the next generation will handle techonogly like smartphones with the same ease we handled a Playstation or the likes, 10+ years ago.
The face of the girl is very interesting, as she seems saddened by the situation. Or it could look surprised. It seems like a fairly neutral face, and it can reflect whatever we feel. I sometimes feel sad about this situation, so maybe that's why I though she looked like that too.
Again, congratulations for this wonderful piece, it is very deserving of the DD!

Awesome. This conveys a very powerful meaning! Especially with the "free" wifi and the emoticons of the faces. They are trapped in the burden of technology. Being lewered in with freebies.

I have to admit, I'm guilty of being a little too phone-dependent these days. Not as much as the rest of the goons, but still...

The title is very fitting. It seems like most people have become extremely dependent on their cellphones. It's like an addiction. I try to talk to people, and they will just randomly stop in the midst of conversation to completely ignore me and whip out their phone to check their text messages. I have never understood this; I think it's extremely rude. Perhaps, the next time someone is trying to talk to me, I will just randomly turn away and start talking to someone else so they can see how it feels. I have a cellphone but never carry it. I only take my iPod with me to listen to music when I have nothing else to do. I much prefer actual conversation to sending texts back and forth, but it seems everyone else has become so socially awkward they don't know how face-to-face communication works.

I was thinking yesterday about how sucked in people are to the digital 'world.' I see people crossing streets with their noses in smartphones! I find it disappointing (and kind of funny because I'm on my tablet right now, call me a hypocrite). Yes, technology is an incredible phenomenon- but it's overused... Sorry, for my ranting, but your piece really keeps me thinking. Well done.

I don't see what's wrong with being technologically advanced. I look at my phone and computer a lot, I don't see what's wrong with it. I'm not saying that's what it means, just a lot of the replies have to do with that kind of thing. Like we're getting further and further from people. If anything, things like this are bringing us closer. If I'm in the same room with some one I'm not going to text them or message them online. I'd rather see my friends in real life, but they can't be around me 24/7. Great picture, however!
