Ok so yesterday my friends were talking about Star Wars which reminded me of when I was, like, 10 and the re-released trilogy came out.

THAT reminded me of a character who is right up there with Reptile and Knuckles for AWESOMENESS that I've been LOYAL to forEVER because of their BADASSERY.

Boba Fett.

"Come on," you may start, "why do you think he's cool? He has four lines and gets eaten by a flower."

Well, let's see why a little kid might HAVE to think he is the COOLEST character EVER:

-He's mysterious. (He barely talks at all.)
-He's feared and respected (and all the girls want him - but he doesn't want them).
-He's a bounty hunter.
-He's THE BEST bounty hunter in the galaxy. Or so DARTH VADER says.
-He has a a jet pack
-He has a flamethrower
-He has a laser gun
-He has a grappling hook
-He has a rocket launcher
-He has grenades
-He has rockets on his wrists
-He has rockets on his knees
-He has a cape
-He has a badass helmet with a scope and a communicator, and under that helmet could be ANYTHING
-His badass armor is scuffed and rough and dented because he's a tough cowboy mercenary bounty hunter drifter
-He has a badass spaceship
-He's an alien from one of those "endangered species" type of alien races.

-He has no backstory because he doesn't need one. He's just there to be badass.

THAT is why I used to pretend to BE him when I was little and would play Star Wars with my friends. (. . . and alone.)
THAT is why I pwned with him in that PSX Star Wars fighting game.
THAT is why I think I may STILL have that bronze keychain of him that I had when I was little.

"HE SURVIVED," I insisted when I was 10 and I still insist, because he's too freakin' COOL to have been eaten by a flower.

Now, as it turns out, he was in one of the newer movies. I saw the first movie, but I didn't see the other two. They give him a backstory and give him a father who totally rips off his armor. And he turns out to be human. (Well, he's still an alien, but one who looks like a human). When I was 10, I secretly hoped he would be human under the mask, but as I got older I thought "well actually, it would be awesome if he was an all-out GREEN alien under the mask, because that would be even more badass." But that's okay.

And I guess in "the extended universe," Boba Fett DOES survive the flower of doom. HAH! And the reason why? The fans. The fans decided he was too badass to die. And so George Lucas was like, "Well, that wasn't my intent, but okay, fine, he can live (so I can make more money)." And so he LIVES.

But then I kept reading on the wiki page and it gets all complicated with all this backstory and becoming a politician and having a daughter and all of this crap and I'm like NO. Stop it. He's just a badass. That's all we need to know about him. Mystery is good. And him just being an awesome bounty hunter forever is all it needs to be.

That all doesn't matter, the real point is that YES he's an extremely minor character with VERY little (if any) importance, but that doesn't stop him from having an absurdly large fanbase. Why? Because he's badass.

He's Boba.
