Hello! Last month, I took a brief class on concept art. Really, really, brief, like ten days, so we only had time to focus on general concepts mostly, but I did get some sketches done. I chose to use Asher's world. I've been calling it 'The Reset Timeline', but I think I might start calling it '17 Years Undone', since that's always been the favorite from everyone I've asked for feedback.

The Heart Room of Onisha! I'm coming up on this place in the draft I'm writing, so I figured I'd use the class to figure out a bit more what it looked like.

This is the home of the Leilaleth spirits. The upper level monastery ruins are a popular tourist destination, but the deepest underground levels were declared A’leth, or forbidden for humans. Massive Lava Root Trees grow in the ruins, with their roots reaching all the way down to the magma vents. The magic-soaked magma absorbs into the heat-resistance roots, giving them an eerie glow. Many smaller flora and fauna have carved out their niche in the massive underground webs, feeding off the glow of the roots and rich minerals in the plants.

Before being abandoned by the human priests, the spirits had a thriving relationship with humans. There are relics of this lost friendship everywhere. Broken statues of priests and wizards stand guard in the darkened corners. Because of their connection to the magma core of the planet, the Leilaleth have knowledge about the whole planet and watch the coming and goings of humans around the world. The Heart Room, however, is their anchor and home, where the oldest and thickest roots grow from the lava well in the center of the room.

For Asher, the most critical part of this room is the All-Seeing Tree. It’s a small, shrubish tree, more branch than leaves, in the vague shape of a person. Small, eye shaped flowers grow all over it. A severed stump-like branch is hollow, forming a shallow basin. The tree was once used for by wizard doctors to detect and analyze curses in their patients. Lava is poured into the basin along with a drop of blood or lock of hair from the patient. The tree absorbs the lava and begins to glow. The color and spread of the glow reveal magical traces in the patient, including curses.

This is the lonely place Asher staggers into after two weeks of one disaster after another---exhausted, battered, and alone save only for the spirit Eepa's faithful friendship.

Story Summary:
What would you do differently given a second chance? Asher's universe had time turned back 17 years to avert an apocalypse after the world-dominating villain realized ruling the world sucks. Not everyone was happy about losing 17 years of life and memories, though, and it turns out merely stopping the war wasn't enough to fix everything. Asher's running a race against time to stop the curse that killed his mentor in the last timeline.
