Hmm I'd say practice then with references from a snake or any creature that resembles your design. That way you can still experiment a lot with your designs - yo udon't have to go full realism

Ooh that's cool. I actually was making a sort of "fantasy novel" in a universe where the snake people, traditionally called Lamia, are more humanoid, with snake bodies. You could make them a sort of tribal alien species for your stories though!

Haha I love reptiles. Big ones too. You can never go wrong with creating a type of "dragon species", which are literally just big prehistoric crocodiles and alligators, the size of a T-Rex. (They literally could eat T-Rex's in those times). I just like making mine a bit more... savage or eloquent. Depending on what they are.
