Kind of, at least there was mystery around the timeline instead of confusion. In Naruto book 27 They said the third shinobi war was 10 years ago so in shippuden it must be about 12, Obito `dies` in it and assuming he is the masked man shows up 16 years ago to kidnap baby Naruto. You can see why I'm confused, or I may have it completely wrong...

Well, it was actually revealed that Tobi is (I think) White Zetsu and Obito, which could explain some things.

Yeah but because of this the timeline broke up caus he's supposed to still be in Konoha when the masked mans around so the only way I can think to explain it is he is Tobi and not the masked man therefore had nothing to do with the nine tails attack but at the same time that makes no sense...

Never mind, it actually makes sense.
Obito "died" during the Third Shinobi War.
When Naruto was born, Kakashi was a complete adult, not a kid like the day Obito died. Keep in mind that Obito and Kakashi were about the same age. If you look at normal Tobi, then the masked man, both had the same. Exact. Mask. Also, the masked man wanted the Kyuubi. So did the Akatsuki, which Tobi is a part of.
Lastly, Tobi has the sharingan in his right eye, the eye Obito DIDN'T give to Kakashi.

So how old do you think Kakashi was when the kyuubi attacked Konoha? Caus that's where I get confused, we didn't get much info on previous shinobi wars.

Yeah but they're missing loads too caus of the lack of exposition. They focus way too much time on explaining the jutsus e.g. Izanami and not enough on character depth. It feels like every time a new character is introduced they are killed off soon after, unless they're a good guy caus they never die except for when they do. Lol sorry to come off as sarcastic.

I think that's my only complaint about manga, no one ever explains anything. Ever. Until the end of the series which even then there's not much.
