This is the only time I have ever seen this phenomenon, the rainbow (and a double rainbow to boot) actually preceded the rainstorm, it didn't come after the rain.Related content

Unbelievable! Never thought it is possible to see something like this in one scene! And the sky is absolutely amazing here! I can only imagine how should it look like if you can turn your head and see also the sun shining from the other side...

This actually ties a bit into your question on the other photo: when I first took the picture I was unhappy with the result and was still new to using my DSLR, but luckily I had taken the picture in RAW form. So two years later when I had learned more I went back and put in better settings, now it looks the way it should and more closely approximates what it looked like on the scene. Now it is one of my favorites.
