My guess is that he reminds us of:
1) a time when we were neglected and just felt like getting back at the people who hurt us.
OR
2) that poor kid who doesn't know how to express his feelings properly and only ends up hurting those around him. He just needs to be loved and tolerated, not ignored.
Or maybe we just have a thing for cute hipster boys that just need a hug
