OK, so I would say they encounter some sort of sabertooth and Vyren fights it and get's his trophy!

Why did he fight the sabretooth in the first place? Was it to prove he could? Was it self defence or maybe to save another loon? Did he defeat it himself or did he have help? Was it a humbling experience or did it boost his confidence/ego more?

Growing feistier by the day
Well kinda. He got the saber from one of his first fights and keeps it as a trophy. Probably got it together with his scar 
Not sure if you have an idea for the scar yet, but I thought that the scar would be some sort of reminder, that some creatures/loons/fights are dangerous and can leave permanent damage.
...And the saber is the proof that, even when it is hard, you can still beat those f*ckers as long as you never give up and keep going >:3
It's a bit small, tho... Oh, well. Will make it bigger later
