Description It's pictures like this that make me remember why I dislike drawing backgrounds.. I always go overboard with the details and such
Not my best work unfortunately.. Drawing humans really isn't my thing I also really should have used a different kind of paper for this one. you can see a lot of the structure of the paper in the drawing..

Edit: As Mizzy-- very accurately pointed out: the horse's cheek was (way) too big in the previous version. So I reduced it somewhat

I actually think that the structure looks kinda interesting! I don't know why, but I really like paper with a lot of structure. That's basically what I work with myself all the time!XD
And, as always, this is a really beautiful drawing! And the background looks great as well, so don't you worry about that, haha!
Thanks a lot for using my stock as a reference!

Thank you so much for the nice comment, and also for your stock!! As usual, I found the perfect picture to use as reference
I also normally use paper with a lot of structure, but this time I used a really soft pencil (8b) as well, so that's probably why you see the structure that clearly

Aww, thanks!!
I'm not really good at making things up myself, so I had to use more than one stock picture for this I used a picture of a dress from faestock as reference, for the arms and head of the girl I used a picture from Valentine-FOV-stock and for the horse (as usual ) I used a picture from Colourize-stock as a reference

Nice work! The background is really good, I guess it took a while to draw those leaves and all

I think the horse's cheek is a bit too big but it's not bad

Yeah, it took ages at least it felt like ages. I was ready to throw this thing out the window at some point, those leaves were driving me nuts

I think the horse in the reference pic had kind of a big cheek as well, but I'll look into it Thanks for pointing it out! some things I don't see for myself, so it's great when someone can point out a mistake like that

The girl's face is slightly unrealistic, but definately not bad by a long shot. I like the background and the unicorn, and going overboard with little details isn't a problem if it doesn't detract from the piece as a whole. I also love how everyting seems to be moving, and I think I will need to find a nice swishy dress like the girl's too!

Celvaya In reply to Solstia [2008-07-28 21:33:28 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I noticed that about the face as well.. humans are just so much more difficult to draw, compared to animals (and this was even harder because the face was about a centimeter in diameter )
Ooh, me too I have been looking for a dress like that for a while, one that's perfect for twirling. those are fun

Wow, tiny person then! I know, I used to have the prettiest brown peasant skirt when I was in fourth grade or something, but I outgrew it in just a few months because I was going through a growth spurt. I remember my friend Katie had one just like it and we spun around in the school's pavillion until we fell over and realised we were late for class! School's so much more difficult now, it's a pain to get all of the assignments in on time.

Celvaya In reply to Solstia [2008-07-28 22:28:29 +0000 UTC]

yeah, raelly tiny. I should have made this one bigger.. Well, I'll keep that in mind for next time: make faces bigger than a centimeter
aww lol so when you got to class all dizzy the teacher probably guessed what happened? I miss school from back then as well.. things were so much less complicated, you could just go home and play, in stead of doing homework and such

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Solstia In reply to Celvaya [2008-07-29 17:59:27 +0000 UTC]

No, we worked out an excuse before we got to class; something about not going anywhere alone I think. Yeah, I remember complaining about homework, if only I knew what school gets like when you're older back then. :sigh: I wish I had homework that was more like it was back then. But no, we're constantly being lectured about how we're young adults now, and higher expectations and such. Needless to say, I don't like my principal very much.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Celvaya In reply to Solstia [2008-07-29 19:45:22 +0000 UTC]

lol And no doubt your teacher didn't mind then? Oh I remember thinking I was busy with homework back then too. It always seems like you could never be busier than you are at the moment, and it still gets busier every year Oh well, that's part of growing up I suppose, but I still wish it wouldn't get busier than it was in elementary school. I'm always so happy we don't get homework in the summer vacation Ugh, I hate lectures.. I got tons of them when I was failing some class or another in highschool and I always said it would all work out fine (which it always did). I just wanted them to stop lecturing me, it was annoying

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Solstia In reply to Celvaya [2008-07-29 20:58:33 +0000 UTC]

Yes, she was perfectly fine because she thought we were being safe and responsible, not the exact opposite! I know, it's really kind of pointless because if you lecture once, you'll pay attention and remember; if you lecture 100 times, the people will start to ignore the message you're trying togive them. If you talk too much the meaning gets lost.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Celvaya In reply to Solstia [2008-07-29 21:19:14 +0000 UTC]

lol so that turned out perfectly
Yeah, I don't get why people lecture that many times. Like you said, it's pointless.. I was already annoyed after 1 lecture though, because I already knew I was failing that subject. I wasn't really trying, so that was pretty obvious

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Solstia In reply to Celvaya [2008-07-29 21:25:47 +0000 UTC]

I know, they do point out the obvious thing you don't want to hear; I was quite aware and quite stressed that I had forgotten 4 assignments in one class and that my teacher was about to lower my grade a lot for it, yet every day without fail, she took a moment to remind me and make me feel awful about myself. I hated her.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Celvaya In reply to Solstia [2008-07-29 21:50:02 +0000 UTC]

aww, that's just mean! She must have known you would remember. My teacher wasn't that bad thank goodness.. He only made a point of it once, at which I said I'd be fine and he should stop stressing over it, and he dropped it. After which I got my grade up and passed that class But reminding you of it every day.. that's not nice, I can imagine you hated her for that.. It would make you feel like not making an effort anymore, just to spite her (at least I think it would..)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Solstia In reply to Celvaya [2008-07-29 22:17:04 +0000 UTC]

I know, half of the time people do best if they are reminded once or twice to make sure they are still on the right track, and then left to do their work with as little stress as possible, but no, they insist on constantly reminding you, in my school's area at least. I passed the class, but not with an A+ like I was hoping, I just barely scraped up an A-. Meh, still a good grade right?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Celvaya In reply to Solstia [2008-07-30 07:53:32 +0000 UTC]

Yeah!! An A- is a really good grade! So you showed them!

That girl is very good..especially her feet, they look great. And I also think the unicorn's hooves look really nice and solid.
(Hmm, I don't know why I'm only praising feet. I must be in a strange mood...)

Thanks so much!!
Feet are never easy to draw, for both humans and horses. So I'm really happy those worked out okay
