The first version was painted on cardboard. This version is on a wood painting surface given to me by my son for Xmas.

Thanks

Its a relatively common theme painting. I was trying to accentuate the light coming through the foliage.

I don't think, sometimes, that I ever get the difference between expressionism and impresssionism.
Maybe we express what impresses us.....

Impressionist's are trying to capture the impression of the moment in time specifically the light as reflected on an insignificant scene.

Monets Cathedrals where the idea of the Cathedral gets lost in the various times of the day...

Expressionism is trying to express the meaning or feeling felt by the artist thru the medium of paint.

Munch's Scream...

In that case might not everything except the most non-referential be called expressionism?

I would vote yes on that. However I'm not a purist and I'm certain some art major could straighten us both out.

In this case I was going for seeing the light behind the obstacles in front of me. So I thought Expressionist.

Its nice to have your perspective back in my inbox.

Sometimes my perspective seems like no perspective to me. But if there were one art educational tool I'd like to see it would be close ups of how various painters work, especially close-ups of the hands and brush on canvas. How does this one achieve that, etc.

Anyway, it is bye-bye Red Sox For the year. Hope the Patriots don't treat us to something like that with equal flare.

That was the beauty of the apprentice relationships that used to be the norm for artists in previous times.

Now we have YouTube so I suppose more are exposed to less.

The homogenization of everything...

In regard to the @#$%&%$# Sox I am still little too tired and distracted with fumbling at trying to stitch my heart back together to write anything that won't be censored.

For them I am suspecting a very long winter. UGGHHH

Thanks!

The idea was to accentuate the negative space.
