*** The storytelling of all of the CCC Championship matches was written by SunlitPromise , who was great to work with in doing the commissioned work. I owe a debt of gratitude to them and their patience with me in getting these online. On with the show! ***

"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the 2023 Collegiate Combat Challenge!" The commentator beamed to thunderous applause. The pair behind the commentary desk made their introductions to the audience watching at home. (I'm happy to expound on this and give the commentators actual names.)
"2020 was an obstacle but we came storming back the last two years." The second commentator explained, "This year, for the first time ever, we've got National Championships on the line! The best collegiate MMA fighters from across the country will compete tonight to be immortalized as the inaugural Collegiate Combat Champion in their divisions."
"I couldn't have said it better myself." The first one chimed in. "We've got 7 divisions and 14 fighters, and by the end of tonight 7 of those men and women will be national champions. David, can you recap the first matchup on tap for us tonight?"
The television feed cut from a view of the commentator's desk to a graphic showing the night's first amateur MMA matchup. #3 Ranked Strawweight Jillian Wolf from was shown contrasted against the division's #1 ranked fighter, Gracie James, alongside their universities, majors, year of college, height, weight, and amateur record. A 2 inch height benefit was the only advantage that the #3 ranked fighter could claim.
"Auburn's Gracie James has fought like a woman on a mission all year, racking up a 3-0 record this year. We expected this to put her on a collision course with CSU's Aleksandra Price, but we wish Ms. Price a speedy recovery from a late season injury and hope to see her back in the cage next season. In her place is the University of Oregon product Jillian Wolf, who's looking to prove that she's been underrated all year. The physiology major is on a 5 match winning streak after dropping the first match of her amateur career."
The man's commentary partner began to make a point but was instead interrupted by Auburn University’s fight song pouring through the arena's speakers.
