A while back I had the idea of doing a show-model vector based on a pose of a Soarin sculpture I bought from CadmiumCrab two BronyCons ago. Some months later, this was the result.

Though, really it's because I needed something on here for September in my local timezone, and technically this was submitted within 30 seconds of October 1st to still qualify as a September submission!

That aside, open wings on sculptures can be problematic when you're trying to handle or package them. 0/10 would not recommend.

For an episode that came out over 2½ years ago, I've still hardly seen any fan art of this outfit, which actually isn't all that different from what the sculptor said back then either. If he ever wears his sports team attire, more often than not it's him in the warmup suit that's usually worn over it. Though, part of that might be that the actual racing suit only appeared in one episode, and had very little screentime on Soarin himself (instead being on the other three mares) and didn't return for the Games episode later in the season. Soarin was actually never shown flying with the suit either and what little shots he had were either cropped off the bottom or concealed by the scenery, so of course I had to look on the mare's version of the racing suit to see things like how the white swoosh extends along the side of the suit to the back, which is normally hidden by the wings whether or not they are open or closed. Trying to move the wing hole around to accommodate the sweeping shape was no fun, though.

This actually combines at least a couple touches from the general stallion's design in the show, since the male Wonderbolts never model this type of open wing (only seen on Thundy back in Season 2, but at this point should still be the standard open, non-flapping wing on stallions) nor turn their head at this angle relative to the perspective (both eyes visible, but not facing head-on), but I've already done that pretty much all the time on past submissions even if I haven't said so.

Game-BeatX14 made a pretty neat wallpaper with this, before apparently liking it so much as to (temporarily) use it in his profile picture.
