Though it rains regularily— usually about once a week; "all-out," and "full-throttle" storms are very rare on Angel Island... (not to be confused with Knuckles' much larger "Floating Isle" ) When one lives on a chunk of rock that floats on air currents a couple miles above the face of Mobius... drifting through a towering thunderhead might take the unsuspecting by surprise...

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
A poem, so graciously written by

-Papa-

Large emerald eyes fill with tears.
A soft footstep sounds in the hall,
answering his baby’s call.

Shivers of fear tremor over the little one.
Soft, strong arms wrap about the little dear
trying to quell that awakened fear.

A small smile touches the papa’s face.
The baby curls in close to into the warm being
his tremors and tears slowly receding.

Soft green eyes reflect the small being like a lucid pool.
A bowling match is being played up in heaven
the papa says to his little guy.

The angels dance and sing for the all glory.
The angels guard and protect everyone from harm.
They put their entire souls into these tasks
so they have a bowling party every once in a while.

The baby watches his papa with large eyes widening.
So instead of fear at the thunder rolling
wonder stirs at the angels’ bowling game.

The papa laughs softly as the baby is smiling again.

lol thanks! ^^

I'm very influenced by the natural world, and I like to try and push as much "real world" details into these characters as I can, just to see what I come up with. However, this particular version of Sonic is more along the lines of a chimera, than a hedgehog... (it's a long an involved story) For more hedgehog-looking hedgehogs, check out some of his buddies.

My mom used to tell me that my late relatives are bowling with God when I was little too. Now I tell it to my brother when he gets scared. And when it hails I tell him that my Grandme Rose is golfing (She played golf when she was alive. Won lots of trophies too. X3 ) .

I love the way you have little Chase hiding under Daddy's body. It's so cute.

Dude, Chase's expression is great here! Lovely father-son moment. As per the Chako norm, your coloring is fantsmo. Complete with lightning playing off of everything in the room.

And as a side-note, I'm feeling like scum for not showing 'ya any love for a long time

No worries, mate, about not visiting me very often. I myself am internet deprived as of late due to the move, so I like never get on lately. The 1st two weeks of internet withdrawl were torture. I'm alright now though. I've found other things to do with my free time, that are probally better for me anyways.

Meh, I'm not internet deprived is the thing. I've become unemployed, it's the opposite!
I just... got tired of giving stuff a good look-over and honest critique I guess. Got lazy.
But then I was looking through my watchlist and saw a bunch of your stuff all backed up there, and it hit me kinda hard. I was like "Awww, that's Chako... she's a good person, and a great artist. Don't be a jerk and ignore her."
I vas feeling guilty V_V
But glad you're doing good anyhoo! I'm okay now

and we had an Epson once. really bad scanners they are. ours broke, and we got money back for it (not all of it) because a lot of other people were having trouble with their Epson scanners too. now we have a HP and it's better than the Epson; even though mine destroys reds and oranges. but that might just be mine. xD;

Nice picture, If you have a digital camera and take a picture of your art work. then up load it. You might have to crop it in photoshop. I do this all the time and it works vary vary well. I never use a scaner. ^-^

aww, how cute. heh, my parents never had any story, tho ive heard the "bowling night in heaven". (were rather too scientifically minded for that one) i really like the expressions and how the little one clings. very realistic, that. and i really like the details like the dinosaur patterned sheet set and the tag on the pillow. im curious about the sparklies and 'bubbles'. overall, very well done!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ChakotayDgryphon In reply to AedenSolus [2008-05-23 02:16:24 +0000 UTC]

Oh my folks used to have all kinds of silly explainations on how things worked when I was a kid.

Thankyou. I'm glad you think the expressions 'n stuff worked out. Chase's was easy, but his dad royally ticked me off... I almost gave up on it just for that reason. The dinosaur pattern seemed like a good idea during the sketching/micron stage of the pic... but when I realized I had to come up with a way to color/shade the thing; my brain almost shut down. In all, I think it was a good/needed challenge. Gotta love those art projects that make you think about what you're doing before you do it (and risk ruining hours worth of work. <_< )

As for the glitter and sparkles... being a dimensional guardian, "Dad" is constantly in contact with the chaos force around him... so he tends to twinkle like a living chaos emerald... when he's healthy 'n happy anyway. If there's little to no glitter, those who know him best tend to get a little concerned.

To answer your curiousity about "Bubbles..." Bubbles is Chase's pet chao. Wherever one is, the other is not much farther away. He's a parent's sneaky way of keeping track of three year old who's middle name is "Trouble."

My mum used to tell me that He was moving furniture around, but I used to retort with, "He shouldn't drag them around like that, then!" >.>;

I love all the little details you've put into Shugo's fur and quills the most. It still amazes me how you're able to do that with acrylics; acrylics and I never got along very well. Though if anything, the darkness from the scanner seems to have added a nice atmosphere to the picture. I can't vouch for it as I don't know what the original looks like in RL, but yeah I think it kinda helped here.

Though if you've got Photoshop or any other image editing programs that allow it, you might be able to play with the levels a bit to bring back the brightness of the original. Scanners are good, but most of the time they seem to not quite understand which colours are which, so they just wing it.

But other than that, awesome work! Love the tenderness Shugo's showing Chase here. Nothing beats a cuddle from someone that's much bigger and stronger than yourself to chase away the frights. X3

ChakotayDgryphon In reply to outcastsproductions [2008-05-23 02:43:05 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! I did most of this via colored pencils actually. I only used the acrylics to darken the shadows/paper, and fix the occassional highlight. Most of the lighting on Sonic/Shugo's fur 'n quills is the white of the paper underneath. I only added the bits of white paint where parts smudged too dark (like on his right shoulder, ) the glitter on his quills, or where I figured the lightning should be showing up the brightest.

As for the scan itself...
Actually, color-wise this is pretty much spot-on when compared to the original. (You wouldn't believe what I had to do with that paint to get it to do that...) I didn't really have to adjust it at all when I was putting the two halves of the picture (too big for scanner) back together in PS. When I put my scanner into "professional mode" I can adjust things before the actual scan. Otherwise in "auto-mode" the scanner crops things funny, reads things as blue or red verses what's on the paper, and various other annoying things. I think for some of my hand-colored pics, the problem is in the scanner itself. It tries to make images blurry in the middle of whatever it's scanning. Photoshop can't fix colored pencil very well... at least not the version I have. <_<

If I tell the scanner to read black & white line-art, it pixelates things really, really bad... and all the smooth lines I had on paper end up looking like something I drew with my mouse in MS Paint. So anything I want to paint on the computer I have to scan as grey scale and putz with it for another hour in PS before I actually get to paint it. *sigh* I have a love/hate relationship with my scanner I think.

Anyway,

Yes, witness the many mood-swings of the chimera. All teeth, claws, and blood-thirsty vengence in one moment... to purring, lethargic, snuggle-bug the next.

Yes, Shugorei (aka Shugo) is Sonic. In my fanfic, Shugorei (pronounced Shoo-go-eh-eee) is his real/Guardian name... it is only spoken by those familiar with magic, the cosmos, and all that weird prophetic stuff... and usually the whole name is spoken only in fear or caution. To those who know him on a personal level, Sonic is still Sonic and answers only to Sonic... or "Maurice" in the case of Rosie. Is you still confoozed?
