Description Dracula poster. Dracula is an 1897 novel by Irish author Bram Stoker, featuring as its primary antagonist the vampire Count Dracula. But I don't have to tell anyone on deviantart that.

Dracula has been attributed to many literary genres including horror fiction, the Gothic novel and invasion literature. The concept has inspired writers and artists for years.

It's an unusual name but I like it, come to think about it, and it fits well with modernity. I can imagine him later in life saying to people who get his name wrong: "...do I look like a composer?" Before wrapping his clock around himself and disappearing in a cloud of mist... fantastic!

The background is beautiful (something I would like to learn to do as it looks like a stucco wall), as is the light so realistic & the techniques you used makes it look like a poster or print, very professional; the subject matter on the whole however is just scary.

Thanks. The background is Canford paper. I use this paper to paint on. The colours are really just a mixture of the hues of autumn or fall, yellow ochres; reds, browns, and cad yellow; all in acrylics. The candle stand is silver plate and store bought candles. The shot was done on a DSLR Canon 400D. I used a zoom lens on a tripod and shot the photograph at night. The skull is my 18 year old daughter's. She bought it in a shop in Conwy, North Wales.

It's amazing what the kids collect & bring back from their travels.
Had never heard of Canford paper; my daughter who is taking art in school also mentioned using different papers.
Have been considering giving acrylics another try. I do love that background...I picture ollas (oy-as) in the foreground. Old clay pots used to cook beans in an open fire in Mexico. Thank you for the advice.

Canford paper is just a brand name of art paper in the UK. There is Ingres paper too which is similar. But really it is just any good quality art paper. I mix gesso in with the acrylics for the tinted ground otherwise if you don't the paper crinkles unless you stretch it first. But because it's poster size 23 x 33 ins. I find adding gesso as a ground saves me a lot of trouble; and no need to stretch first.
