the Utility engines of Sodor aren't forced to work on any branch line, instead, they work wherever they're needed as well as shunt and bank engines up Gordon's hill.

and now to name a fact about each engine.
#5 James: use to be painted black with wooden brakes.
#13 Barry: was saved from scrap from David when he was on his way to Sodor.
#27 Harvey: has been an honorary member of the Search and Rescue crew since 2014.
D10 Dennis: Was never given proper repairs until his first day on Sodor.
#24 Billy: originally worked for the Sodor and Mainland Railway.
#14 Charlie: originally worked for the Wellsworth and Suddery Railway.
D12 Norman: was built on Sodor as a replica of the class.
D13 Sidney: spent the first 2 years of his Sodor life hanging from a ceiling hook at the Dieselworks
E1: Stafford: was offered an overhead catenary after finding Farmer McColl's sheep
#31 Nigel: was haunted by his old controller when he first arrived on Sodor.
#32 Margret: sees Nigel as her big brother and helped him when their old controller was haunting him.
D16/#68 Philip: is very proud of his 68 after saving 68 sheep.
D007 Bond: was the Trevelyans Armored Train in the James Bond film Goldeneye (hence the name and number)
#53 Linus: always willing to give advice to any engine.
#54 Andrea: has her own shed in the heart of Henry's Forrest.
#62 Lily: was originally going to be painted like a lily flower.
#64 Quinton: has his own whistle language because he's mute.
#18 Nia: came all the way from Africa because her shed was burned down.
