The geology nerd in me actually thought of deep-mantle convection currents when I saw this...and then I noticed the title

Great effect. Such a fluid and natural feel. It could also pass for a nebula in space, or a flare from the sun, especially at the bottom part

I have a fascination with most of the sciences, though I will admit that my knowledge of geology is lacking because I've never taken coursework in it. Β The only time I've ever heard about convection currents within the earth was in the context of volcanic activity; the title was given just because it reminded me of magma and heat, and the description...was a rather silly way of trying to make it sound all sciencey, because I had absolutely no idea if such a term even existed ^_^;

I'm glad that you enjoy how this looks Β There are elements I really like (the top right corner, the motion from the loop in the bottom, and fire), and dislike (the grain is rather strong, and the darkness, particularly in the top and mid/bottom left of the image, gives more of a "space" aesthetic than something inside the earth), and I can't help but think that framing the top portion and bottom portions separately would have been slightly more effective than how it was presented here.

Thanks for the comment, and sorry for the walls of text as a reply >.<

Oh yeah, convection currents do happen in the magma that makes up a lot of the inside of the earth

Mathematics has a partial role -- they're still crafted by human hands and inspiration Β I'm glad you like it!

I fully agree. Even with total random generation, there would still be Human selection of the best looking piece... Art is everywhere Human taste can fall (or some philosophical blabber of the sort... )

I really wish you would make some tutorials on these pictures. They're gorgeous.

I did intend to work on a tutorial once college has finished and I have the time to do so in my free time. Β It's not the easiest thing to do, as it's nearly impossible to try to recreate anything that I make perfectly. Β Any tutorial for these would have to focus on techniques and tips instead of "here's explicitly what I do at various stages of the process of designing artwork."

Which is exactly what I'm interested in. If you're going to make a tutorial about recreating an actual piece, then you may as well capture it as a video and put it up on Twitch.

if you ever want to sound smart, just use the word geothermodynamics ina Β sentence, cuz that shit sounds hard as hell xD

I'm still learning how to do so! Β I do have a list of tutorials on the bottom left of my profile if you're interested in taking a look at how fractals are made, and would be more than happy to help if you are interested in starting.

How very lovely and flowing! It's a bit different than some of your other -- more chaotic I should say -- works. Excellent job.

I love the thinness of this, but I also love how you managed to capture a lot of depth with the coloring alone! It's really quite a fantastic technique! I also love the grittyness moving along with the smoothness of the blurs too.
