Description It Won't Go Away

UPDATE: Code is on Github: github.com/chaosfissure/glypht… . It won't recreate this thing exactly (or the chance of it doing so is pretty slim, at least), but it's a lot cleaner and more parametric.  I hope ya'll get a kick from it or something XD

Some Python (not synth ) hackery to replicate some of Pasternak 's stuff.  Certainly atypical, but I saw this and just had to write a version that did something like this, as I think it has quite a bit of use in various situations XD

Obviously this is not something I typically do, but I did feel that doing this had some use and potential future applications in things, so I figured I'd bite the bullet and work on it!  Plus it's fun to do coding that does visual things like this XD

That's why I'm writing something like this, I want to construct symbols that I could repurpose into some type of language in a game or something later on XD

how does this work because i'm really confused. can you explain this too me? please?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ChaosFissure In reply to mommy247 [2015-08-13 19:00:09 +0000 UTC]

There are two parts to this.

There is a grid of coordinates, representing the square blocks you see. These blocks are spaced apart a certain number of pixels, which makes them disconnected from each other.

The second part is all RNG. I'm using a seeded RNG to determine if any given block should be visible or invisible, as well as how it should connect to the blocks surrounding it on the grid.

ChaosFissure In reply to ThoughtWeaver [2015-07-05 23:06:43 +0000 UTC]

It's pretty much just breaking up into grids of pixels, then randomizing probabilities for how frequently it tries to go left, right, and down...at least that's what I did!

Perhaps.  I may want to have more "aesthetic" results that differ more significantly for a font.

Hah, well I thank you for the inspiration These things seem straight out of like a science fiction environment.  The program I wrote to do this is super dumb, but I probably will expand it a bit to see what other things can be generated in a fashion like this.  I will admit Tatasz clarified some sticking points I had with how Synth works, so I may try using it to make some stuff as well

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Pasternak In reply to ChaosFissure [2015-07-05 21:47:39 +0000 UTC]

structure synth is super neat, plus it's 3D... this should be done in context free really... It's really cool how everyone has a different way of achieving similar things

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

ChaosFissure In reply to Pasternak [2015-07-07 15:48:01 +0000 UTC]

There's no denying Synth's use to make cool buildings and geometry - I've used it before for a 3D render, and you've done many cool things with it as well.

That's the cool thing about programming in my opinion, there are many ways things can be done..and it does involve creativity to do things well, or in an interesting way!
