Well.....it's not like Toriel doesn't have her reasons for being upset (I mean the guy did kill six of the children Toriel tried to take care of before Frisk came along with the other things Tori called him out on). I imagine Asgore's gonna be jumping through quite a few hoops before she and him can make up comfortably. As much as I love the idea of Toriel and Asgore eventually getting back together, it's not very realistic to expect Toriel to be all cool with Asgore after everything's said and done and I hate that people think Toriel being (righteously) angry with him is such a sin.

First of all, we have no idea if all the humans were children or if Asgore killed them all. Second, we're not upset with the fact that Toriel is angry at Asgore, we're upset that people are constantly portraying Toriel as an abusive crazy lady who loves beating up and humiliating Asgore every chance she gets, and we're also upset that Asgore is constantly treated like a punching bag in the fandom.

Sorry I have to respond to this comment since I can't reply to the other one anymore for some stupid reason. I'm on YouTube mainly. The hate is definitely more on Asgore, but Toriel gets some hate there too. But that's the fandom. Toriel herself isn't sadistic. She's not the type to belittle anyone even Asgore. She's just angry at him, but people like to twist that and think she's just a hateful shrew and paint Asgore as this primordial saint that can do no wrong. The game is great. The fandom......not so much. And I've said this already but I'll say it again for clarity's sake. It doesn't matter if they were kids or if Asgore killed them directly. The fact of the matter is that Asgore's responsible for that as he's the king and made the order to have them killed.

Huh, that's weird.
From what I've seen, there are plenty of people who make Toriel seem bitter and sadistic, but at the same time they make it seem like her actions are completely justified and they take pleasure in torturing Asgore. As for him, I think you're more likely to see people who hate him or see him as a neutral character than people who think he's a complete saint.
Um... I know that. I'm not stupid.

That's just as weird to me. I see both with Asgore taking more heat, but the fandom goes overboard either way. It's just a goddamn video game. And I didn't say you were stupid calm down. I didn't say "for clarity's sake" because I thought you were a retard. I got my point across and I'm exhausted so let's bury this already shall we?

Yes, but that still doesn't invalidate Toriel's feelings. Fact of the matter is he waged a war (out of grief but still), covered it up when he realized how much he didn't want that, and decided to kill six kids for their souls on the downlow. The same kids that Toriel tried to protect and keep away from him. It's not like Toriel doesn't have a reason to be upset with him and it's not unreasonable for her to be upset with Asgore either. But yes since they both had their reasons to do what they did, they should talk because they both made hasty decisions in their grief following Asriel and Chara's deaths that caused their relationship to fall apart. That's ideal anyway. Plus, in the context of what Chaosreign made, Asgore's making a (frankly) pathetic attempt to get back in Toriel's good graces again instead of confronting her about it. He should put more of an effort into making things right with her just as Toriel should consider Asgore's feelings or hear him out at the very least. But the process is probably going to be slow (as it should be) since Toriel in spite of her usually sweet nature is likely the type to hold grudges and Asgore's done more then enough to earn that amount of ire.

That may be true, but it also shows how arrogant Toriel is since she acts like nothing was her fault even though she ditched her entire kingdom. And Toriel may not be unreasonable with her feelings, but her actions in fan art like this (burning his gifts, insulting him in his face, beating him up, etc) are unreasonable. And I agree, they really need to talk this out.
And by the way, Asgore did not freaking kill six kids. We don't know for sure if he killed them all or if they were all kids. It's just a stupid fan theory.

I'm pretty sure Toby Fox confirmed that Asgore killed them not too long ago in a tweet, but I lost the link. And you're right. No one's perfect, but anger is oftentimes irrational. Toriel has her reasons to be angry. Asgore had his reasons to do what he did. End of story. Also fanart is fanart. We don't know how Toriel and Asgore made up and we don't know if they even did. The epilogue for the game does have Asgore working at Toriel's school that she opened up on the surface, so that at least implies she trusts Asgore enough around children and maybe they compromised a bit. So one can safely assume that their relationship improves post Pacifist run so that's good. The fanbase just likes to overexaggerate things. This piece was just made for comedy so lighten up if it upsets you in anyway.

I think the tweet in question said that the humans made it TO Asgore rather than PAST Asgore (which doesn't necessarily mean that they made it to him alive). I think people just like to twist Toby's words to make it seem like they were all kids just to make Asgore look worse than he actually is.
Exactly, they must've made up in some way at the end. Which is why it frustrates me when people portray Toriel as still hating Asgore's guts and abusing or humiliating him every chance she gets. And I bet you wouldn't find this funny if their genders or roles were reversed.

Eh it'd be funny either way to me actually. I don't know why you even brought up genders here. Just avoid art that portrays characters in ways you don't like. It's not the end of the world. Kids or not, Asgore's responsible for their deaths regardless of how actually involved he was in getting them killed. So there's nothing wrong in pointing out who's guilty of a wrongdoing and being upset with them for it. That's all I'm saying.

I brought it up because people always seem to think that a woman beating up or humiliating a man is hilarious but think it's terrible if it's the other way around. And for the record, I didn't know this would be another Asgore bashing piece, and those kinds of art are literally everywhere, so it's impossible to avoid them.
And yet nobody seem to acknowledge or care that Toriel basically abandoned her entire kingdom when they needed her most and left them to drown in despair and everyone thinks she's completely in the right. All because she's their Big Sexy Goat Mama.
You know, judging by everything you're saying, one could get the impression you're a Soriel shipper. 😜

Me a Soriel shipper? Well I have nothing against the ship like some do. I just think they're better off as friends. I prefer Torgore. People just think that because society implicates that due to the whole "women are weak, men are strong" thing. But that's dumb since it can be funny either way depending on how it's done and this was good for a laugh. It helps that I don't take this kind of thing seriously and it'll help you too. Like I said, it's just fanart. As for Toriel herself, I imagine no one seems to bring what she did up because Asgore's actions arguably left more of an impact on the kingdom and what Toriel did was more a consequence of Asgore doing something very unlike him and horrible in general and she just had enough I figure. Granted, she could've stuck around and did something but keep in mind that both their children died at around the same time and grief made them fall apart and do things they probably wouldn't have done otherwise. To say she's completely in the right is wrong. To say she's wrong to be upset with Asgore is also wrong. But really no one in the game really chastises the Dreemurrs or holds them accountable for their actions either if you hadn't noticed and that's probably due to the humans and what they did to keep them locked away in the Underground in the first place. The monsters love the Dreemurrs so much that they're likely willing to overlook their mistakes. Meanwhile the humans had more to do with their collective misery so a lot of the blame and hate was towards them which is understandable honestly. My point is simply this: a disasterous incident occurred, the misery was at a high pitch and affected everyone ESPECIALLY the royal family. Toriel being angry at Asgore makes sense in spite of whatever Toriel did, but it's fine now as it's pretty much ancient history and even Toriel is....ok with Asgore at the very least. Asgore deserves better, but hate being thrown at Toriel is unreasonable.

There's barely any hate being thrown at Toriel. It seems like all the hate is being thrown at Asgore while the fandom kisses Toriel's feet and puts her on a pedestal.
