At least people with pariah models can use them as lychguard with warscythes as a replacement, it's not like GW wrote them out and left no use for the models (which makes a change for them!).

well, you cant use counts as in a tourniment realy, so you'd be scuppered then.

I dunno I think somebody would have to be a real git to stop someone using pariahs as lychguard with scythes, even at a tournament. I guess you would need to check with the TO beforehand.
I would be fine with it as long as I told beforehand (then again, I once let a friend use a ceramic rabbit figurine to stand in for a carnifex so I think I am pretty easy going with proxying models!).
It won't be a problem for me if I collect Necrons as I don't have any Pariah models and I prefer the Lychguard ones anyway.

a bit short perhaps?
I don't mind proxying near enough anything as long as it is similar in size to what it is meant to be.
My friend with the ceramic rabbit once tried to use a guardian as an avatar, I said no to that especially as he had a hive tyrant model he could use!

i generaly say that your counts as has to be from the same race, and about the same size. generally counts as weapons are fine. after all, so many of us swap accurate weapon load outs for bad ass style when modeling.

love it! I am seriously considering necrons myself and will definately be copying this idea when it comes to making my crypteks! There is no way I will be spending £10 on each one of those finecast pieces of crap when this option is available!

i like finecaste and think the models are good, but i didnt want 5 models that would look exacly the same, and i also like converting.

I suppose the cryptek finecast model is ok, but the way his hand is done makes him look like he belongs more at a rock concert than in an army of ancient machines.
I have no problem with finecast in general (the chaos daemon flamers I bought were much easier to build than the metal ones) as I think the necron overlord in finecast is a great model and if I do collect necrons that will be one of the first models on my list.
I was just slightly disappointed with the cryptek. I thought gw could have done better with that.
I agree that I wouldn't want more than one of that model in the army and I also quite like to convert.
Again, nice work on the crypteks. I will be shamelessly ripping off this idea for my army!

rip away.
I to got some of those flamers, though i never had metals ones. very easy to glue. Im hoping for finecaste oblitorators myself.
The finescast overloard is ok, i have one, but i think the lord you get with the anialation barge is much better (also plastic).

Thanks for that.
I don't have my daemon army anymore (it got sold on ebay quite soon after I bought the flamers). I was quite happy to see all the eldar aspect warriors released as finecast (I also play eldar) but I already have them all in metal so will not be replacing them!
I think the obliterators would be a good choice for plastic or finecast as those metal monstrosities they currently have are so heavy and prone to breaking it is untrue. Plus the models are pretty ugly (not in a good way!) in my opinion and could use an update.
The models I would like to see re-released as finecast (or maybe even plastic) are the eldar wraithguard. I would love to have a unit (especially if they get updated rules in the next codex) but at something like £8+ per metal model it is just not going to happen. They don't even get much cheaper on ebay.
I do like the pose of the finecast overlord but would also be using the plastic one from the barge kit in my army. Do you think a lord is better off on foot or on a barge? I think I would be fielding him on foot to start with (as I will start at 1000pts and go from there) and maybe add a barge later.

I have 1 of every finecaste eldar aspect XD The warp spiders are still boxed though.
I think a 3 model plastic box set of obliterators would be good.Especially if they made them to terminator propotions, so the could be kit bashed.
I agree on the wraithguard. it was like the for the necron immortals. £8 a model, with a minimum squad of 5. i got 5 of them, but never any more. The new plastic box is much more cost effective.
I have my overloard on foot, though the command barge is designed so you can have him on foot and still slot him in to the command deck. personally though i wanted the heavy firepower from the annialation barge myself, and wanted my overlord to walk with my lychguard squad so they could benifit from an orb of reserection.

That sounds like a good plan also. Do you use 5 lychguard or a larger squad?

only got 5 right now. i bought 1 kit for the cryptecs, which as in the description here i had to make them with shilds. the second kit i make preatorians. 3rd im gonna do warsyths XD. Ive played a kill team with 5 warsythes. it was good fun.

I will probably stick with 5 to start with and maybe go up to 10 later.
Not sure about warscythes yet. I am concerned that their low initiative will mean they get smashed up before they get to attack.
I wasn't sure about the praetorians effectiveness. How have they worked out for you?

chaotea In reply to rohansoldier [2012-02-23 12:46:15 +0000 UTC]
havnt tried the praetorians yet. The low I of warsyth lyghguard is though, but the strength means you could happily assault a fex.

rohansoldier In reply to chaotea [2012-02-23 12:53:13 +0000 UTC]
They would be great for assaulting low I monstrous creatures like fexes and walkers like ork dreadnoughts or kans but a bit too expensive to be able to take the hits from something like a hive tyrant or marine dreadnought.
Granted some will get up again but there is still a high cost of attrition there.

they have a 2+ armour 5(?) toughness and "we'll be back" They already hard to kill. With a overlord in there too with a res orb, it'll be hard to keep em down.

rohansoldier In reply to chaotea [2012-02-23 14:58:41 +0000 UTC]
That's true, also with the Overlord in there, any power weapon hits could always be put on him as long as they are less than strength 10 if you give him a phase shifter for the 3+ invulnerable (which I would!).

yeah that would be a good target for them, much like pariahs from the old codex (lychguard are quite a bit like them after all).

actually I might do that... but have them hunched over... kinda like seeing them as a bunch of old cron's.... It'll be funny
