A group of experiments using PS. I wanted to try to achieve an acrylic painted look using yet another technique, attempt a more realistic fur look and play around with creating realistic star scapes. So I combined it all in to one here and had a lot of fun doing it. (Inbetween cursing of course!
)This sweet pair are Ru-Ofanius (Rufus) and Melika from my on line comic. Mel is yet to make her comic debut on the web (although she has appeared in the print version) and their relationship has a way to go before they reach this stage. But the idea was so strong I couldn't resist working on it.

This is a beautiful picture. I'm not one for nudity, but this is so loving, and with all the fur, it's kind of like it's covered up anyway. A very lovely picture, great lighting, and wonderful poses. It's great.

I know what you mean by nudity, It's not my thing either. But I was after a more romantic then erotic feel to the pic and I think it worked. This pic only took a day to finish which is a record for me when it comes to a 'painted' look.

I saw this at VCL, and I wanted to make a comment on it.
I'm glad I found it here, because this is a really beautiful image. Not only is it beautifully executed, but it's nudity without being pornographic or tasteless.
It doesn't feel edgy becaus they're naked, in fact it enhances the feeling of tenderness between them. I absolutely love this.

The fur actually isn't that hard to do. You make a custom brush in photoshop which is basically just 7 or eight 3 pixel dots. You adjust the size setting as needed and smudge it through the areas that need to look furry. I work at 300 dpi so I set the smudge tool to about 85% to get the right effect. I work with a single dot for small areas like the face. It takes a little while to get the right feel for it but it's fun. Try it!

Yup I painted it in photoshop, on about five different layers...
1 starscape
2 planet
3 Interior of room
4 Melika
5 Rufus
I set a hard edge brushtool to about 10 to 15% to get that painted look and use a custom dotty brush to smudge the figures with to create that furry look.

Thanks. I actually did the pic in one sitting (which is unusual for a painted look for me.) It took about 6 hours all up including the initial rough skecth which I also did in photoshop.
