Shannon Matthews is copyright to Hydravision Entertainment.Obscure is a lesser known survival horror video game set in a high school. Many have seen it as Resident Evil set in a school, but alas, it is a bit more then that. Maybe control wise and a few gameplay elements take from that aforementioned game, but there are certainly lots of things that set it a part. Its not the best game out there, but it certainly has a charm about it that makes it a fun play. The characters tend to be annoying, but there are a couple who are okay. Shannon for one tends to be the least annoying, and probably best designed character of the lot in a natural sort of environment. Of course, she turns into a goth come the second game and isn't as much likable. In fact, the second game doesn't quite have the charm of the first and does away with some of the things that made Obscure stand out. But I do like the second game for the Wang twins, Mei and Jun. Stan even becomes more likable in the sequel. But anyway, since there isn't that much Obscure fan art out there, I thought I'd pay homage to the game.

Cute pic! I didn't like what they did with Shannon in the second game, either. To me, if she was that affected by what happened, she would've started dressing more conservatively (hiding herself) instead of showing off more skin and becoming a pseudo-goth. I mean, rly?

There was just so much in the second game that was just left unanswered. Like, why did Stan and Kenny have to take medication for what they were infected with while Shannon didn't? Why did she start dressing like a goth, drawing more attention to herself? Its mind boggling the kind of ideas that the makers of ObsCure implemented because it kinda wrecked on an already established character when she didn't really seem to be any more repressed or morbid or dark. A bit of a mess up if you ask me. Shannon worked at being a rather sweet yet rebellious girl in the first game, balancing with Ashley's blunt bitchiness, Stan's being stoned

Another thing that bugged me was how Kenny acted after he mutated. I get the mutation changed his brain, but if he became a monster, wouldn't he lose his cognitive abilities like all the other monsters? I'm thinking along the lines of William Birkin and Steve Burnside in the Resident Evil series. But even Leonard in the first game lost his cognitive abilities. :\ It made me think they were trying to make him out to be a bad person all along when he really wasn't. He was the hero of the original game for cripe's sake! X(
And another: why didn't any of them care that Ashley and Josh had disappeared? Kenny and Ashley were dating at the end of the first one, and then Ashley disappears and suddenly Kenny's after Amy! I didn't see them staying together but I think he'd at least care if she disappeared.

Leonard had some mild awareness if I remember - like getting pretty upset when his brother died before him - but in general, he was a monster and his mind had for the most degenerated. I figured Kenny would have gone the same way, unless what had affected him didn't quite have the same effect as those who got a good dose of the spores on Campus. Kenny's previous 'infection' so to speak might have had longer to work its magic. But him suddenly turning into a complete a$$hole was ridiculous. I know he was jock and could be a bit mean - but to commit to murder and rape of his own friends who'd looked out for him? I didn't particularly buy into it.
And yeah, nobody seemed to care of mention Ashley or Josh going missing, which was stupid, it kind of left a strange hole in there, a plot point they could have even discussed.I could understand if Kenny and Ashley broke up or something and that was that, but her disappearing so soon after events, I doubt they did and he never mentions her again. Its a lot of little things in the plot that just never got worked out properly. I like the second game in parts, but the plot was pretty hollow, when in comparison to the first game.
I just thought, I never actually completed the second game. I got back to Leafmore and then stopped playing. I didn't hate that game, in fact I liked some of the new characters, but it just felt like it dumped some of the good qualities of the first in preference of other, copy-cat like game mechanics.

I've never played the second one but I've seen several walkthroughs of it. It looked okay. I also liked most of the new characters, but the plot holes bothered me. It seemed to me they just rehashed the original game without adding anything new (other than the "witty" dialogue between the two player characters, lol). And WTF happened to Stan's ghettoness?? DX Even though they changed Stan and Shannon (is it just me or does she look like Neve Campbell in "The Craft"?) so much, I will say I liked the romance between them.

I don't remember much of Stan's backstory, but I think he went to prison for a short time and was released and reformed himself a bit, maybe explaining why he's a little less ghetto.

Yeah, he said he did a lot of bad stuff and went to prison. But later in the game he says something like, "I learned this the week I was in prison!"

She also had the added ability of 25% extra healing to herself and her fellow characters, so she wasn't completely useless in my books.

Stan's voice annoys me too much to use him at times, but since he can open locked doors in a pinch, I sometimes take him along. Ashley I'm okay with. Kenny, well, I'm not too keen on him. Definitely I use Shannon and Ashley most of all.

Well, arguably it was a wise move on the developers' behalf because it was the easiest way to make the player hate Kenny. But yeah, I wish they could've done that without killing her.

Iβve never even heard of it, but I have to commend you on picking something to do fan art on that not too many people have done. Itβs very nice looking and I especially like the characterβs design.
