Actually, if you remember , long chapters ago,
Asuma mentioned to Shikamaru,about Konoha, where this had some similarity with the game Shogi, and he tells that if he knew who was king, and when Asuma died, He tell Shikamaru again, that the king of the game are the new generations coming, and there is when Asuma tells him, so...''take care of my king'' (His son) But it's like... metaphor xD I hope this helps you(:
