Huh... yeah you'd think after a certain point, fairies would start inflicting negative effects on people that caught them, or would keep hanging around one hero, trading healing for protection and not being put in a jar half the time.

there's ways to get around the issue but there's conditional contracts with jars and such that enforce good behavior.

Huh... okay, but who sets up those contracts? Because it seems rather one-sided. Or... do the jars themselves have a geas built into them? The more I think about that, the more I wonder how that works...

Huh, you'd think the fairy would gather together and work out some kind of countermeasure for that then because they just get all sorts of screwed over consistently by that.

there are unions but that would imply formally becoming a working class NPC or adventurer which most fairies being hippies are loathed to do.

Congrats, you have provided a reason for the next Zelda to have regenerating health when we duck away from a fight for long enough.

Ehhh... regenerating health in a Zelda game... I'm not sure that'd fit with the rest of the mechanics, I mean yeah LoZ might be getting a bit rote/stale at this point, but Regenerating health isn't the right fit with all kinds of games.

That's my point actually. Regenerating health is, indeed, not the right fit with all kinds of games, so let's not give them ideas.

Except that isn't where I was going with that musing at all, I doubt my questioning the logic and internal mythology of a gameplay mechanic in a Nintendo game is going to change diddly, they predate suspension of disbelief just like Superman and his spectacles, so they get a free pass there.
No, I was more questioning the logic of using that same idea in other contexts.
