I read Sailor Moon 9 yesterday (found out my local comic book shop sells them! No more Amazon for me!) and I was amazed at how beautiful this panel is. Not only that, the scene is really beautiful too. Chibiusa grew on me so much during the Dead Moon arc, and this scene really captures why I love her now. Chibiusa is only a child, but she's thrust into a very adult world. Her friends are all teenagers who love her, but can't relate to her because she's so much younger than them. In this story arc, Usagi and Mamoru's relationship has progressed to the point where they want to be alone together more often, and Usagi complains that Chibiusa always seems to be getting in the way. And Chibiusa is starting to realise it, too. She becomes much more self aware in this arc, and her repeated encounters Helios leaves her questioning herself time and time again. She's jealous of Usagi's relationship with Mamoru, and even though she knows he's her father in the future, her feelings towards Mamoru confuse her. Her new-found introspect makes her seem like a quiet, small adult rather than the babbling kid who's been tagging along with the senshi. So I think this panel says it all. Even though she's suddenly grown up (temporarily), thanks to PallaPalla's attack, her inner struggles still take her to the swings, where she dreams of someday becoming a real lady, and, someday, finding her very own price.Colouring/edit by me! This is one of the many reasons why I love Chibiusa. It's more proof that she's not the immature brat that the '90s anime made her out to be. She has dreams, one of which came true. She did find her prince.
Near the end of the Dream arc, she prays that someday Helios would be her prince, and I loved that scene so much.
And she will become an amazing lady, someday. I know she will.

This saga of the manga made me like her too^^ people forget she is actually over 900 years old, so while partially mentally and physically she is still a child of her, there is another part of her that is very adult but because she doesn't age like normal people being the first child of both moon and earth heritage, she is trapped in a child's body and that in a way effects her mentality as well. Made fun of because she is weaker and so small, people often told her she was nothing like the mother she idolizes and wishes so much to be like. She in a way is very insecure with the lack of physical maturity and lack of power compared to the Queen and everyone expected her to be just like Serenity but she is her own person and the dream arc she finally begins to realize this, and realizing this is partially what helps her grow further^^
