Description
This is my entry for the battle against =ssst in #theEpicsThe theme was to create a vector piece which was influenced by the song by Muse - Undisclosed Desires. You can hear it and see the video: [link]
I listened to the song over and over again and I got a strong feeling of a man wanting to control his partner. Especially with the chorus in bullet points of "I want to..." - it felt very demanding of the girl.
So with the feeling of the music itself (I hear a lot of almost plucking of strings) and the theme of control... I wanted to have a puppet theme... but a kind of twist on the puppet.
She's been released from her strings, but is it really what she desires?
You may have noticed a few line art based pieces in my gallery of recent... I'm going through a phase and want to tune the line art skills I have.
Now the model is.... ^brgtt , although slightly modified for exaggerated eyes, nose and lips to accomadate for my line art atyle. She was a great model and I thank her a lot

and i left this out of the crit because i'm an idiot, but it really does fit the song, very well. i kept picturing her falling to the beat lol and i totally thought she looked familiar yay line!

Nice song...hadn't heard them before
This piece is absolutely wonderful, Shar. Everyone else has already said so much about the pose and the composition, the great use of negative space...I second all that! I love how it's as if she's laying in really bright light or maybe a fog...how the tones on the underside of her body are stronger and fade toward the top. The heart-string really draws your focus in, and the colouring continues to draw your eyes up her body only to settle on those electric blue eyes. I really love this style that you're doing...but then I seem to love all of your styles!

It is indeed a fantastic song. Apparently Matt wrote it with his girlfriend in mind as a dark love song. I can see where he was coming from, but I did see it in a very sinister way.
I really appreciate the feedback in this current style, I know people probably prefer the realism style, but it's to give my soon to be website more of a variety you see

Variety is definitely good, and yes, your realism style is awesome, but so is this, it's looser and free-er but still conveys such a strong message and leaves no doubt as to how talented you are

I love the composition in this one. You use negative space brilliantly. It's hard to make something look good on white, and you definitely nailed it. The pose is lovely, the colors are soft yet vibrant at the same time. The way you made her gaze look dull yet her eyes full of emotion..It's very contradicting, as is the song, so amazing job there. I also reaaaally like your signature coming out of the hair, that's just cool.
